THE RAND PAUL TRAIN IS NOT SLOWING DOWN SO GET ON OR GET RUN OVER
If Hillary gets elected president, maybe we'll get a change on a social issue or two, but on the economic side, it'll be no different than if we had elected a republican, she is a corporate lapdog, always swing where the money is.
Chelsea isn't political right? Maybe hilldog will change since there isn't another Clinton left to run for office in the future.
Let's say Sanders wins the Democratic nomination and wins the general election. Guess what, a lot isn't going to change. Presidents don't get to railroad whatever they want into legislation. Just look at the ACA compared to what Obama envisioned as health care reform during his campaign. The real reason to be concerned with presidential elections is not for the legislation (outside their big issue), but the Supreme Court. Ginsburg, Scalia, Kennedy, and Breyer are all over 75 years old. If the next president serves two terms, it's not a far stretch to imagine they'll get to pick two new justices.
That's why when someone talks about wasting their vote (and I don't mean this as an attack), to me personally, it shows that they might be passionate about politics, but they don't really understand the reality of the process (or maybe that they haven't given up hope about politics yet..).
Obama was never for universal healthcare lol Ya'll didn't pay attention to him at the 08 campaign trail and during debates. We got exactly what he said he was going to be: a black Republican.
Yeah, Republicans love liberal supreme Court nominees and doubling the salary limit to which you can avoid paying overtime.
OH, sick burn bro. You got me!
He did, actually.
I know, just being a dick. I can still call him a Republican, though. Just because the goal posts have shifted over the years and Pluto is no longer a planet, it don't mean shit to me lol
I don't see how voting Sanders is wasting your vote. Even if he loses the primary to Hillary, you can go back to voting for Hillary in the general election. Now if he was running as an independent then it might be wasting your vote by taking the votes away from Hillary and possibly giving the win to whatever idiot wins the GOP primaries.
Welp thats what I get for not reading everything D:
I don't think that works with how the country is geographically divided into ideological extremes.
The reason Trump is polling surprisingly well is because to about 40% of the country (which is spread out well enough to almost guarantee a majority in the House and prevent a Democratic super-majority in the Senate) what he's saying makes perfect sense (i.e. the exact opposite of everything Bernie is campaigning on).
You will get an obstructionist GOP empowered by their extreme constituents that won't care what the rest of the country wants.
I mean did Obama get to do anything significant after the "referendum" election? His one major legislative item of his second term is TPP which the GOP is working with him on because the Democrats aren't. Everything else that's happened has been a result of Obama resorting to increasing use of executive power.
He's right. Every argument I've ever heard for why Trump should be president starts with the phrase, "what he says makes sense" even though it clearly doesn't.
He just says all the right things, like a player wooing their prey.
