2016 USA Presidential election thread I: The warm-up

I mean, I fall in the Berniebro category since I suppose I can't just be a supporter of him. I just don't chime in a lot in this thread anymore because the opinions are really vicious here at the moment.

I'm planning on voting for Hillary in November without remorse because the fate of the progressive agenda for the next couple decades depends on it. If I really want things like Universal Healthcare and real campaign finance reform, I need to realize that having Hillary in office is the key to that. Scalia's seat is open and RGB is pretty much one foot in the grave. If Trump wins, you'll probably be seeing 6/3s or 5/4s in conservative favor on EVERYTHING in the near future. Bernie supporters who stay home in November, do something like vote Green Party, or write Bernie in on their ballot are just as short sighted as the GoP who found themselves with Trump a few years after tapping into the lunatic fringe of their party on top of cranking the fear engine to the edge of redline.

Seriously, vote for who you want in the primaries. Bernie's campaign is hinging on CA to possibly start bringing supers over to him. In either case, Hillary is still winning the popular vote and should be the nominee in my opinion. Sanders gave a good run for his money, but I think he might have accidentally debased the DNC heading into the general.

Many on my fb and friends of friends on fb. My friend base is mostly boston / providence people who are now 30+ or near 30 "aging hardcore kids" and punks. Many are musicians, tattoo artists, bartenders, etc.

None of my friends that are associated with me in a professional level are like that whatsoever. But yeah, they exist.

Pretty much. Once we're deep into general election season most people will change tune, especially since Trump will need to continue feeding the fire to keep his campaign momentum going. Clinton is far from an ideal choice and the reservations are warranted but pragmatism will prevail.

The only Berniebros I know probably wont. It's not an issue of just strongly preferring Bernie or whatever but a ridiculous amount of hate towards HRC. Like of all the hate on HRC in my feed 99% of it is from Berniebros. And they've generally shown more to her so far than to Cruz or Trump. It's to the point where I'm almost starting to sympathize with the Hilldog
