Dr. Ben Carson is reportedly helping Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, choose his vice presidential running mate. According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Carson said he doesn’t want to be Trump’s running mate and that even Democrats could be considered.

i believe it was Salodin who asked where the moderate Republicans stand now that Trump is triumphant, and incidentally Speaker of the House Paul Ryan said this on CNN today

Asked by CNN anchor Jake Tapper whether he backs Trump, Ryan responded: “I’m just not ready to do that at this point. I’m not there right now. And I hope to, though, and I want to. But I think what is required is that we unify the party. And I think the bulk of the burden on unifying the party will have to come from our presumptive nominee.”

“This is the party of Lincoln, of Reagan, of Jack Kemp. And we don’t always nominate a Lincoln and a Reagan every four years, but we hope that our nominee aspires to be Lincoln- and Reagan-esque,” Ryan said, adding that he hopes the candidate “advances the principles of our party and appeals to a wide, vast majority of Americans.”

Ryan clearly leaves himself more than enough wiggle room to settle on the Donald later on in the cycle, but it's an extraordinary, and off the top of my head unprecedented, step for the most powerful Republican official in the country to refuse to endorse his own party's nominee (even if only temporarily as is likely).

and though only three of them are moderates both former President Bushes have reportedly written off any prospect of endorsing him, and McCain and Romney will not attend his convention coronation this summer.

additionally Ben Sasse, the junior Republican Senator from Nebraska, publicly called for a third party campaign and vowed to never support Trump in an open letter on his facebook

Please understand: I’m not an establishment Republican, and I will never support Hillary Clinton. I’m a movement conservative who was elected over the objections of the GOP establishment. Conservatives understand that all men are created equal and made in the image of God, but also that government must be limited so that fallen men do not wield too much power. A presidential candidate who boasts about what he'll do during his "reign" and refuses to condemn the KKK cannot lead a conservative movement in America.

to reinforce i do expect the majority of the party to fall in line by November, it is a party renowned for discipline and the specter of Hillary will ensure through fear and distaste some measure of orthodoxy, but the people you're looking for are out there.
