It has just occurred to me that I don't actually click on BLM-related links enough on Reddit. The vast majority of posters in there are white privileged neckbeards who regurgitate Fox n' Friends arguments. I mean, I know the Reddit demographic and all, just expected more rational thought besides "black ppl r reverse racists playing victim supremacy"

Still, the BLM sub going private with "Fuck Bernie Sanders" was worth the lulz

No, Bernie's political positions come from a place of sanity.
But he is further to the left than mainstream democrats, to the point of being actually to the left, rather than a tensy bit right of center.
This means most think he is unelectable outside of his home state.

Anyways, he's due to be in L.A. on Monday, and he'll be speaking at an arena with a 17k capacity. So expect a bigger picture then.

I wasn't talking about political views. I was talking about a "movement". Ron had a "movement" going similar to what you see with Bernie.

No, it's not really a movement, despite how the SandersForPresident subreddit may look. But he has not been a household name outside of his state, the only people who knew who he was were people who really paid attention to politics with a progressive bent.
And unlike Obama, he does not exactly have DNC backing*, they want Hilary to be the candidate, so they won't help with getting him recognizable crazy fast like they did with some dude from Chicago. That's what the grass roots thing is doing.

*(Despite working with the Democratic party in Congress for votes and things, he is an Independent, so they wouldn't exactly help him in the first place)

Bernie seems to be operating with a significantly lower budget than Ron, correct me if I'm wrong. I remember Ron being able to afford some pretty aggressive advertising. Bernie also has help from this crazy social media and digital marketing stuff, though.

yes, largely. a fervent grass roots movement coalescing around ideology more than candidacy, but neither was/is viable across the middle

in presidential elections the moderate candidates almost always win, there is great fear of being outflanked ideologically in the primary season (and that fear recently encouraged the moderate options in McCain and Romney to drift right) but neither socialist nor libertarian nor occupy nor tea party are large enough blocs to force a purity candidate upon their party when we go national. Congress is another matter

According to the campaigns Ron raised $41 million in 2012, Bernie has thus far raised $15 million. largely dependent on how far he desires to push Hillary--and if his rate of funding declines should he perform poorly in the early contests or Biden joins the fray and splits the anyonebutHilldog bloc--but he could certainly pass Paul's total over the coming primary season

i'm not so sure, outside of Hillary this is one of the weakest Democratic fields in history. i mean, Joe Biden is polling a strong third place despite not yet running and being regarded as something between comic relief and rodeo clown for the majority of his vice-presidency

my hunch is if Elizabeth Warren had run the progressive wing of the party would have coalesced around her (and then some) and Bernie would be left hovering in the low-mid single digits where Kucinich lived when locking horns with the Obama-Clinton-Edwards-Richardson-Biden field
