C-span callers are not a very good representation of the country either. People that care enough to call in are also the people that decide very early who they're voting for.

I think that is a larger part of the problem this cycle (and increasingly so in American politics). People know who they are going to vote for pretty much no matter what. There is very little to persuade people that the noxious nature of their own side is enough to get them to change their vote.

It's like Casey Anthony. People pissed she wasn't found guilty but there has to be a case.

Little late but think Casey Anthony is a tad different. Readin up a bit the defense mostly just threw enough hate at everything the prosecution had while super emphasizing the whole beyond a reasonable doubt thing and even then it took several stories being proven lies before they settled on one that technically couldn't be 100% proven which is what it seemed like the jury thought reasonable doubt is. Also probably didn't help they were going for the death penalty and that tends to make people think harder about guilty verdicts and some people flat out wont because of how they feel about that

Here wrong doing is already established. Intent should and generally only does effect the severity of charges. Like in Casey Anthony case if it had only come down to intent but they had established wrong doi g she still probably gotten off of the first degree but the manslaughter and abuse charges would've stuck. It's not what ya know but what you can convince a jury of

Maybe worse. Worked with a guy who was going to email his gf they were in port as they were pulling in but then didn't send it. Next thing he knows he's on hold while they are investigating him for treason lol. Last I know he was still on hold a couple of years later though I think by then they had a date for the court martial. Though I doubt he'd actually get convicted of treason as they have basically nothing on him but boy were they trying and if he had really let actually important information out...

I'm assuming your coworker was enlisted, because by the other token I've been at an afloat unit where we had an officer email someone our patrol schedule, and the boat basically covered it up and gave the entire unit a week of OPSEC training.

Being mad at Hillary for the private server/improper handling of classified materials makes perfect sense. Being mad at her for not being indicted is a bit stranger given that she wasn't the shot caller there.

Trump just said that Bernie lost the "FBI Primary", then proceeded to state that all of his supporters are going to vote for him instead of Clinton.

Trump also said that Petraeus got in trouble for less when Petraeus knowingly and willingly shared classified info.

Not positive, but I am pretty sure there is a difference between federal law and the UCMJ here.

Military is quite a bit stricter then the civilian world. It's asinine that someone as high level as the SOS wouldn't be held to the same standards as the bottom feeding members of the military, but blah blah blah

Overall I'm fine with the end results, again except for the part where if it was me, I'd have been raped in jail by now. That's the frustrating part. The results were 100% expected, but doesn't make them any less frustrating to someone that works in the field of IT and especially in security. The thought that other nations didn't access this data and have their own copies is pretty much a joke.

most of us agree that this was a stupid mistake to make, and are glad that this should be all the precedent necessary to end the practice, but it's incredibly difficult to take these kind of comments seriously

grandma should have known better, but to undermine the totality of her professional character because she has a thing or two to learn about cybersecurity? Like what

Oh she's old so it's ok. Top 4-5th person in the entire US and we're ok with them being old and not knowing how technology works, but they know enough to want a email server setup in their house.

Most anyone else would have been thrown in jail and would be sitting in there waiting for their trial. Especially if it got 1/10th of this amount of press.
