I don't get what's so hard to understand about being irritated and very annoyed that her last name is the only reason she isn't out of a job right now. That seeing people in power get off Scott free when some pleb would have had his life, at the very least, be temporarily ruined over something like this. Am I still voting for her? She's currently running for a job. Normally this would eliminate anyone from even trying to get another job in the same field is the point.

Speaking of Clinton and the Secret Service, do you guys remember her saying that there's no way her email server was breached because it was guarded by the Secret Service? This lady wants the nuclear codes, and she thinks you need physical access to a machine connected to the internet to steal data. She was handling Secret and Top Secret materials, and doesn't even have a rudimentary understanding of the technology of the current era. And somehow she has the testicular fortitude to claim she's the most qualified ever to be president. It'd be fucking hilarious if it weren't so sad and pathetic.

I doubt we have ever had a president who understands how that kind of shit works. People at the top are too busy with other things to learn how it works. They hire people to know how it works for them. Have you ever worked in IT for a company and had to deal with the CEO or CFO? Unless it is a tech startup they probably know nothing. I am amazed how someone can get so high in an organization without even basic computer knowledge and skills but it happens all the time.

If she was some regular person at the state department, she would have been fired on the spot and would never work with sensitive material again. Also probably be facing jail time.

Yes, but again, this came to light after her time in the State Department, and she wasn't rank-and-file, she was Secretary of State doing what the previous two Secretaries had done. Just drop that argument.

The director of the FBI said she was grossly negligent, and the statute at issue directs anyone grossly negligent with matters of national security to be fined or face up to 10 years in prison. I'm holding out hope DoJ goes for the fine to at least pay lip service to the idea that laws are applied equally.

Her escaping prosecution had nothing to do with her name being Clinton. It was because she was SoS. A CEO gets to do shit that a rank-and-file employee can't. The reason legal experts all said an indictment wasn't likely isn't because Clinton has too much shadow teflon, but because no prosecutor goes after a high level official for this crap. Rice, Powell, Albright, Kerry could all have done the exact same shit and gotten away with it.

Hell, it probably was more of an issue that it otherwise would be because her name was Clinton. The Clintons aren't prone to scandals, it's just that people hate them so much they make mountains out of molehills when they are involved dreaming of some "Gotcha!" moment. When Benghazi didn't work, they just moved onto this.

I think if she had copped to knowing that there was classified material involved, they would've charged her. Her holding the line that she didn't knowingly send or receive material marked classified at the time means that the case wasn't a slam dunk, and prosecutors aren't likely to ruin a presidential candidate with an indictment if a guilty verdict isn't a sure thing.

Trump is getting similar treatment with the Trump U case being pushed until after the election.

I'm assuming your coworker was enlisted, because by the other token I've been at an afloat unit where we had an officer email someone our patrol schedule, and the boat basically covered it up and gave the entire unit a week of OPSEC training.

Of course. Officers always get special treatment. Like on the same boat one officer doesn't show up to duty on morning because he is still at a bar drinking... they send someone to pick him up and he stands duty... well wasn't really standing much but yeah completely drunk off his ass having the nubs go on ridiculous food runs like go to mcdonalds and ask for egg mcmuffins without eggs and sausage biscuits with bacon instead lol. And for the most part slept most the day. Anyways it was never mentioned at all anywhere. Few months later an enlisted guy looks tired on his first watch at noon admits he was drinking till 10 pm the night before but stopped so he'd have 8 hours before duty and they did a blood test and then some magical math to figure out he must have been over the limit a few hours earlier when he started duty and next thing you know 90 days restrictions and half months pay for I think 2 months. But young chief also gets his duis swept under the rug to an extent too so....

But yeah it's not just the tippy top and the Clintons that get special privileges. All along the way from the bottom to the top there is a different standards that gets applied. Sad fact of life

Thank you this is exactly what I keep thinking every time someone says it is because she is a "Clinton". It is more about level of power than her name or who she is and it works the same way in private companies. It works the same way in the legal system for rich vs. poor etc. People in positions of power and privelage get to do things that other people cannot do.
