I mean, fivethirtyeight in general isn't very good unless it's actually Nate Silver writing. Harry Enten, in particular, writes some of their worst garbage.

That having been said, if a piece of particularly progressive legislation came across President Hillary Clinton's desk, I'm pretty sure she'd sign it into law. She's hawkish and pro-business, which are certainly turnoffs for a president who has to work with a highly republican congress, but if Medicare-for-all was passed in both chambers, I don't think she'd go "LAWL NO" and veto it.

It's not complicated. He is the only person anyone can take seriously on the issue of American sovereignty. The ruling-class, Republican establishment, and political-media have acted for over a decade as if the only solution to the illegal alien issue is submission and amnesty. For just as long, a huge fraction of the American people have utterly disagreed.

Voters understand that all of the other candidates are either for amnesty or the status quo. The pool of Republican politicians didn't even want this to be an issue, like last time. It was a big issue in 2004 and the media and ruling classes fucking hated it. They wanted everyone to pretend it isn't an issue, while others, less powerful, consider it the most important one.

This is why Trump isn't being hurt by the usual "OMG he has to apologize on national television for that" brigade. Nobody gives a shit what he does or says because they actually believe him when he hints the border and issue of illegal immigrants will be the defining governance story of his Presidency.

Democrats: No change, as ever.

Republicans: Trump, Carson, Cruz. Fiorina has dropped to seventh, so the post-debate bump didn't last long for her. Gilmore is still less than 1% and will miss the second debate. Perry is around 1%, so with the news that he's already out of money, the question is whether he'll last till the second debate (September 16th).

If there's two candidates you should be believing, it's Trump and Sanders, who aren't highly (overly) polished, focus-group tested politicians.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) said on Monday that his immigration proposals were "very similar" to those of the real estate magnate, who over the weekend released a tough new plan exclusively focused on enforcement and cracking down on unauthorized immigrants. Walker said that he, too, wanted to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, which is one of Trump's most controversial proposals.

After speaking at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines on Monday morning, Walker told a reporter that he supported ending birthright citizenship -- another tenet of Trump's recently unveiled immigration plan.
