There was a rule put into place as a direct result of the shit show, previously it was allowed if you got the proper approval.

Rice didn't say jack, it was her aides that would have seen the emails, and Rice even went so far as to say she never sent emails as SoS. Powells situation is a little similar, except back in his day no one paid attention to this. Plus he's credited with getting the state department up to date on some IT stuff since apparently before them not every one even had Internet.

The situation with powell and rice is completely different. They had some emails that went to their personal accounts. IE, yahoo/gmail, whatever they used. They didn't set up their own server to run basically everything through. That people are treating them differently isn't some conspiracy out to get Hillary, but because it's a very different situation.

If I setup my own server at home to run my work email through, I'd be fired. Somehow a person who gets to the level of Secretary of State thinks this is a good idea?
