John McAfee, the antivirus software magnate who fled Belize after police tried to question him for murder, confirmed to CNNMoney that he plans to run for President in 2016 and that he'd created his own party -- the Cyber Party.

Trump: 'I always 'felt that I was in the military'

That statement pisses me off. To say that he "feels like" he was in the military completely undermines anything military men and women have gone through. Does he "feel like" he got PTSD? Does he "feel like" he got sexually assaulted by one of his comrades? Does he "feel like" he's seen actual combat? Does he "feel like" he had to kill someone to save his own life?

His statement is one of pure ignorance. I don't put military men and women on a pedestal at all, but to say that you "feel like" something is utter horseshit. What's next, is he gonna "feel like" a black man? I know it's not the same, but that's how he fucking sounds to me with that statement. Trump has no understanding of what actual men and women who have served have gone through, most of whom are underprivileged and join the military as a paycheck and a way to college and return from war often broken and mentally ill. Meanwhile, he sat in his position of privilege continuing to inherit a massive fortune. He will never understand the military.

He attended the military academy from eighth grade in 1959 until graduation from high school in 1964. There, the report said, Trump wore a uniform and participated in marching drills, and some of his instructors had served in the military.

Trump, though, received four student deferments from military service in the Vietnam War between 1964 and 1968 and a medical deferment after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1968.

His draft lottery number was 356 out of 366, according to the Times report.

"My number was so incredible, and it was a very high draft number," Trump told the book's author, according to the report. "Anyway, so I never had to do that, but I felt that I was in the military in the true sense because I dealt with those people."

Mmm, I think you fell for the click bait pretty good here. Seems he'd know a fair amount more about it than most. They embellished the quote even by adding 'always'.

I don't need professional help for feeling like Trump doesn't get to identify with the military if he never served. Being around the military and being close to the military is not the military. And I'm certainly not the only person who feels that way. I left the military with a slew of problems (none of which are anyone here's business) and it's insulting to anyone who is now disabled because of their service for him to try to jump on the "yeah I totally feel like I belong in this group" bandwagon.

Which is entirely untrue, but there is a small subset of the military who look down upon the people who are not in combat arms units, forgetting how vital support is to their operation. Which is what I got out of him calling me a "POG."

Yup, my brother got shafted on his promotion to Sergeant as he was in an administrative role, processing new recruits that were arriving for basic training. When he first got to Fort Sill, his sergeant asked him if he wanted to be in shitty weather all day fucking around with artillery shells or work for him in a nice climate controlled office. Despite the lack of promotion at the end of his term, I still think he chose wisely based on how sucky Oklahoma weather can be.

I should add to this. I don't mind being called a "POG" or a "leg" in good fun, after all, we like to rib on each other, just like Army guys call the AF the "Chair Force." I don't mind that. But if you say it with the intent to imply that I don't deserve to call myself a soldier or some elitist bullshit, you can fuck right off.
