I think barnwell had some stat about "power runs" (3rd or 4th and less than 2) that had Seattle as something like 3rd in the league on offense and the pats defense at 28th (or even last, don't remember offhand and don't want to listen to the podcast to find it. I know it was close to dead last though)

that's including goal line situations so saying something like "but that end of the field is different from midfield" doesn't quite excuse it

edit: just found the stat in an article, hawks were second in the league, pats were dead last.

He was awful for the first 25 minutes of the game.

Also is it just me or does this dude take no command of the offense at all? He seems to just run the play call no matter what. I never see him audibling or doing much calling out or any improvisation beyond running for it when all else fails.

He made some good plays but it's pretty surprising to see how little heat he's getting for that game, let alone the game-losing INT. You didn't have to throw that, your boy's route was getting spied.
I was thinking the same thing. I'd say there's about 28 starters in the NFL who would be thrown to the wolves of they had a game like that, much less in the SB.

It is strange he either doesn't have the right to audible or simply doesn't. Coaches have always raved about his intelligence, yet he's either handcuffed or never changes the play.

its because handing off to marshawn lynch is a pretty good idea. if seattle decided to pay me 50k a year instead of giving russwils a contract i would totally just hand it to marshawn

i think most qbs are exempt from blame in super bowls unless they throw up on the field

i havent look but i am going to assume that leading up to the interception RW prob had a better performance than Brady in the first 3 superbowls he won. SEA starts slow a lot, he also has shit for receivers so its hard to put the slow start all on him, especially since they were trying to get marshawn going early. I think they should have tried to work some screens in on their first few drives just so RW could start completing passes, but whatever.

also this is what he saw on that play, everyones liek "i would have thrown it too" whatever, im not a qb and i think it was a shitass play call and that he should have checked out of it. at least he owned it post game unlike their OC who said the receiver shouldn't have been such a pussy

This had me rolling. I had like 15 people over for the game, about half were girls who were only interested in the commercials for the most part. Everyone had a massive "WTF!" reaction to this commercial.

itll seem like second guessing but i always feel in those situations where you need a quick slant for a td the qb should throw the ball low. should have it planned that way so the wr knows to expect the ball low too. seems like most of the time those plays work the wr is dropping to the ground after the catch anyway. even if its incomplete you avoid the int in those situations

Kinda hard to throw short hard throws low but still over 6 foot 5 linemen.

High or low doesn't matter. He led his receiver slightly too much. Allowed Butler to have the best angle on the ball.

Objectively speaking, this win was really helpful for the Patriots for other reasons. Having gotten SB#4 out of the way, the Patriots can now focus more on the next generation at the QB position rather than have to deal with a QB that's more interested in his own glory in fighting to get that next ring. Not saying that Brady would be like that, but it's just kinda human nature. Janeane isn't the future, and now they have some time to scout a good replacement and train him up.

As someone who didn't really care about the outcome, it was a pretty damn good game overall. I think that the game should have gone the other way. But that's sports.
