You can't shrug off undefeated like its nothing. Brady was a handoff away from being 3-3, and it took him 6 games to approach the TD mark Montana set in 4. In an era where passing numbers weren't off the charts, by the way.

Nobody is taking Brady over Montana. Vinatieri? Maybe.

I know January and February football is like an abstract concept to a Jet fan, but making the Superbowl means you went through the post season gauntlet to the final game. If the Superbowl was played in week #1, 4-2 might not be as impressive as 4-0, but it isn't, and post season games are hard.

4-2 in the Superbowl w/ 21 post season wins > 4-0 in the Superbowl w/ 16 post season wins.

Anyone who takes Montana over Brady doesn't want to enjoy post season success as often as they could otherwise.

I don't care if you hate Brady enough to like Montana better, but "he never threw an interception in the Superbowl" argument is a weak leg to stand on considering all Brady's accolades. 9 AFC Championship games alone in 14 starting seasons is fucking ridiculous. That's watching Brady play in the final four 9 fucking years out of 14 for the trip to the Superbowl.

No wonder the haters are so sick of him.

Brady won 3 rings when football was still football. Which rules were in place in 2001 and 2003 that was so different from Montana's era?
He won in 2004 after the Colts cried about the Patriots beating up Peyton's receivers to reemphasize illegal contact, but beyond that, it wasn't that much different.

Post-2009 I get it, and sympathize with the argument.

Team doctors and an independent neurologist perform an on-field concussion test. You either pass and you're cleared to play, or you fail and you're given a 20 minute test in the locker room. Edelman passed, Avril failed. It's stupid protocol because if the objective is player safety everyone should undergo the 20 minute test, but that's all it is.

Late to respond, but I agree with this. Some of the head injuries these players go through is insane. It's sad people care more about putting tin foil hats on versus advocating better protocols for players.

Montana is better than Brady. I wouldn't even have expected the media's arguments to be as bad as yours are, and yet here I am, thinking, "Man, I need to read more of Gregg Rosenthall, just to acclimate myself to merely stupid before trying to interact with normal society."

The worst part about you is that there IS a legitimate (several, really) case for Brady > Montana. You just haven't hit on any of them-- and here's a tip. NONE of them involve insulting people who claim different, and none of them are in the vein you're coming from. You're increasingly coming off as a recently divorced drunk on his fifteenth Jack, screaming at anyone and everyone with such incoherency that everyone wonders if we should call your Ex and give her a warning.

Be a fan, fine. Great, even-- fans are awesome, even if they're somewhat over-the-top. But right now, I'll take every Manning-loving Fox-worshiper over you, both in terms of enjoyment of their commentary and the accuracy of their analysis.

Not only is Montana a greater QB than Brady, there are two others in contention before Brady can ever sniff a claim, and a third and a fourth who could nudge Brady out of top five (though I think only one of those actually has a claim). Brady's a great QB. He's blatantly the best of his generation, and is one of the best all time, but there is no rational conversation that can be had that places him so obviously #1 that you can get away with the absolute garbage you've been spewing.
