new player general thoughts/questions

At this point why would anybody do main scenario roulette anymore, everybody should have enough soldiery unless you're a newbie.

I know plenty of casuals that are always like "I need more soldiery so I can buy more Alex maps". I've been known to run a MSQ roulette from time to time as well, not for sold, but for easy light (especially now that trials roulette has a tendency to go to steps).

I still do the daily story once in awhile for the 100ish soldiery, gotta get them craft mats that are slowly climbing in price!

There's also people who are struggle playing in "more difficult" instances. These are the players who:
- won't do expert roulette unless they are 4/4 premade with their friends
- don't do trials roulette because they will guaranteed die to Titan, steps of faith, chrysallis, etc
- don't join PF's for anything for risk of drawing attention to their gameplay

Funnily enough there was a desperate plea for help for someone who needed 1 tank 2 dps the other day in Modona for Hydra. In my mind I was thinking "just go in there no one's gonna care" ... this list makes sense I guess in such context.

Trial roulette is 50% garuda because fucking lights
20% moogle because fucking lights
20% ifrit because fucking lights
10% everything else

I'm practically ecstatic if I get Titan if only because it's not the same shit.

I don't even do relics and the shit still annoys me, everytime I do my roulette and get Garuda I almost just wanna be that asshole that afks at the start cause you can't kick while in combat.

I haven't gotten steps of faith in at least 4-5 days doing 2 trial DR a day (2 chars).

Unfortunately, my experience is a bit different lol... after hitting 3/3 steps of faith in trial roulette I'm not going to do this for a couple weeks ;o

I used to love doing TR every day on 4 chars for free gil/tomes, now I don't even wanna do it on the one up-to-date one because I might get Steps or Ludachrysalis.

Next time I'm just leaving, rather spend 30 mins not being able to DF than 50 mins dicking around for nothing (that'll teach me to try and help people).

I like when theres a ton of players around the game generates an ambient wound of a battleground(peopel shouting and screaming) but its awkward in town...sounds like a riot in mor dhona

lol yes I noticed that too. it's a clever system - reminds me of the crowd noise from FFXII, but scales based on population. it does get annoying in Mor Dhona.

FFXI is really needing something like that right now.

The only way the MSQ roulette is ever going to cater to newbies is if SE changes something such that no one can proceed while someone is in a cutscene.

So they haven't done so yet huh? I remember a bit after 1.0 this was a major problem with new players. Ya know SE gotta always have them long cutscenes, so lots of people found themselves finally getting out of CS, only to see the boss has been killed, etc.

It sounds like a riot in modona because frequntly an escort fate pops right inside the down. Otherwise it would sound like a busy town. But if no one starts the fate, it's maybe perpertually there.

Occasionally someone might send him on his way (start it) and let him go die lol
