I used to pass oils because I had enough to finish right-side SCH - another "god damnit" moment when I realized I still have SMN accessories to go for. I lot catalysts because... well I'm not sure why I do that? I just do. I stopped lotting tomestones to be nice and now I'm kicking myself for that because I could have used one for SMN book. I was so focused on SCH that I forgot I could make parallel progress on SMN.

oh well. I doubt I will have ilvl 90 on SMN by the time I finish WoD on SCH, which means I'll be back in Syrcus for a while anyway.

moral of the story: lot EVERYTHING.

thank you all for indulging me. I know a lot of this is very basic and some of it could be found via google (which I do use... obviously) but sometimes I just want the opinions of people who play this game. this forum is amazing and I appreciate all your input

that said! raid question: I noticed in Syrcus that almost every fight, even trash mobs, someone would put our markers for A, B, C - usually in the front, left, and right sides of the arena (unless, like Scylla, there was a reason to put the markers on a mechanic spot). however, no one does this in WoD. is it bad etiquette if I just start doing this?

I ask because I have difficulty as a healer if people are spread out all across the arena. the time it takes me to sprint over to you might be the time it takes the mob to tear apart the last remains of your fragile little lalafell body into a bloody mess. also, if everyone is grouped together I can Succor much more easily, or even Sacred Soil if necessary (though usually if Sacred Soil is necessary it's for a mega-attack and people WILL group to me wherever I damn well feel like placing it lol).

I feel like having A, B, C waypointed in the arena like I described above keeps people more or less grouped with their individual party, which helps out the healing a ton. obviously not always a perfect system with bosses that require a lot of movement (hello, Angra Mainyu) but I don't get why no one does it in WoD but everyone did it in Syrcus. so I might just start doing it unless there's a reason not to.

come to think of it, it wouldn't work so well in WoD with Cerberus, Cloud, and Angra Mainyu all requiring a lot of movement. plus Cloud requires waypoints for one of her special attacks anyway, so that's out. but at least a few of the trash pulls could be done this way, and it would work just fine for Five-Headed Dragon.

I know... I'm overthinking this. I overthink everything lol

Well, for Syrcus, Scylla has pads you have to step on to block Daybreak if you don't push the fight hard enough. Glasya Labolas has the jump pads, where you want to kill the rooks to jump back in as soon as you can and also take care of the clockwork knights that let you do the jump pads. Amon has the adds that you kill per party.

Nothing quite like that in WoD and people will usually be clustered wherever they want to be.

You can do whatever you want, but people aren't likely to obey it. If a DPS is taking enough damage to kill them and you can't reach them, it's usually their own damn fault.

If people go out of my healing range I usually won't go away from the main group to heal that person. He can come back if he doesn't want to die ;o

You're a SCH! Eos is meant to walk to the guy for you, depending on how you setup your heals for manual driving Eos lol

yeah, I'm still learning SCH - I just recently started repositioning Selene and using her to heal the other side of the arena. Or, for example, when the Garms in WoD toss out AoEs that block off half the arena I'll send Selene over because she don't give a shit about no AoE.

my favorite trick so far though is using Heel when I'm frozen on Five-Headed Dragon (which is rare, but it does happen). Selene don't care about no freeze, either. she spam heals me until I break free, which is nice because the other healer often forgets to notice that I'm, you know, DYING.

I've also discovered an advantage to dual-SCH parties: dual fairies. Seems obvious, but with two fairies instead of one I can feel a lot more confident DPSing, knowing that they will cover most of the healing. I used to break out of Cleric's constantly for every little hit, but I am slowly getting used to letting Selene heal AoEs that aren't too nasty, especially if I know the fight well enough to know there's nothing bad coming up. I only have to break out of Cleric's for ohshit emergencies now. I used to love the SCH/WHM combo, and I still do, but only if the WHM knows his place is to main heal and mine is backup healing with a focus on DPS.

don't get me wrong; SCH is primarily a healer job. I'm not saying it's a DPS job. I'm simply saying that, all heals being covered, SCH is the better choice to spend extra time/MP/cooldowns on DPS. and... yeah, I'm rambling again aren't I?

Pretty sure Whispering Dawn stacks exactly like Medica II (or any HoT/DoT) does.

    neat.

I wonder if Selene x2 AI would rotate their buffs? I assume so. Eos's extra healing power is mostly unnecessary so it might be better to run that.

of course this is all counting pennies, but they're interesting pennies nonetheless.

Selene x2 is useless since you can't have both Glow and Light up, only one.

Niche use of double Selene would be FFXI-style BRDs where you fulltime Glow on the mages and Light on the melee. But that would take more coordination than is absolutely necessary for both SCHs as well as FFXI-style positioning segregation.

Or in an even easier fashion, just have 100% uptime for one of them if the majority of the DPS is caster or physical.
