new player general thoughts/questions

i think the amount of content (basicly all of heavensward) SE has gated behind ARR mainscenario was a really really really bad choice. I dont mind it myself since i was finished with ARR mainscenarios but some of my friends are trying to catch up and want to see heavensward content, but they have to do first all the ARR, they kinda starting to give up on all the ARR stuff and just quit it :/
They should have done a story recap via CS for people that wanted to jump right into heavensward and given out lvl 50 chars.

No way... if you think people complain about people who don't know how to play their job now, this would bring players who are 10 times worse.

Honestly, this is how all MMOs are. Granted, I find it in poor taste to lock the new jobs in the 3.0 areas, but grinding out the MSQ are really easy since ilvl isn't capped. People are zooming past these storyline dungeons and it gets you properly geared for the 3.0 content and you don't have to spend a dime.

If people can't figure out the basics of how to play their jobs in an afternoon by just sitting down and reading their skill descriptions they're not gonna learn any more mashing their face into the keyboard for 50 levels of FATEs broken up by the occasional get-carried dungeon.

Beating Shiva gives you ilvl110 weapons, which are better than the NQ ilvl115 weapons.

Just ran the great library as PLD and I have question about the demon book. Does this things aggro mean anything at all? I was had red aggro the entire fight and it literally attacked everyone but me, eventually killing our SMN and moved on to the WHM but it was at 3% and we finished. I was using everything I have to try and get more aggro but I cannot get any higher than red so I don't know if this is a glitch or this is just a switch to sword oath and dps it. I was throwing out clemency's and cover and whatever I could do and still it would not attack me.

No idea, but I pretty much treated it like AK wall and just sword oathed it. No one complained so I assume that's normal.

Fuck that shit, I had to grind all those dumbass fetch quests, so do they.

Although it will be interesting to see if that is always the case. 4.0? 5.0? It would make the access curve for newer people pretty steep.

Follow-up to this: I've been having RL bullshit going on, but with me skipping cutscenes, I finished all of 2.1 to 2.55 within two days. If you don't skip you're probably adding on an extra day, but adding emphasis that the MSQ are really easy to grind through.

a friend just came back from a long break, started from Ramuh story and got like 75% through 50? it's not really suppose to give you enough to get to 51 before you even get to Ishgard.

Is there a text command to execute Limit Break? Does it have to be different for healer/tank/DPS LBs?

Being on Balmung, I know you have to have seen some scrub with a chat macro LB, so you know it can be done.

That should do it, no it doesn't need to differ. The <t> should be ignored if you're doing an LB that is cast on yourself or the floor (tank/healer/caster). I've never used this however (and I question why anyone would need to), since you can just drag the LB action onto whatever bar.

The damage he actually puts out is rather low he just hits everything you should be in STR gear sword oathing it. Honestly this is how every boss should be unless you're not super great at holding threat if that's the case just start out with shield oath get a combo of halone off then switch back.
