new player general thoughts/questions

The game is becoming more fun since I actually personalized my settings and cleaned up my HUD. Now I kinda know what's going on more. The main problem just seems to be memorizing rotations and targeting multiple enemies faster. I'll probably try L1+ cycling. Yeah, I play on a console, wanna fight about it lol.

I think the majority is console players anyway.

Seriously, I'd rather feel the other way, but I donno man. I donno.. You don't need a decked out PC to run the game either perfectly. My PC is a piece of shit and I run it fine(well nevermind Iydllshare..). Most people just prefer consoles. *shrugs*

Eh, I'll bite. So how different is the game after the expansion came out? Or is the the same old "Grind like hell, get stuff, then have nothing to do" song and dance?

The story/leveling up is great. If you're a crafter or gatherer you'll have plenty to do. Alexander normal is straightforward. Savage is tough.

Basically, if you join up now you will have tons of shit to do till 3.1 drops. Then you can decide if you want to keep on imo. Story/New Areas/New Skills are the best part of the expansion. It falls flat once you get the basic gear for your class, Savage is great but was set up terribly(normal preceeding it gear/story/bosses spoiled). Crafting is much the same, great to jump into and get some new skills see some new recipes and sub-systems but ultimately there is a giant wall seperating you from progression and very little reason to climb it.

The only benefits you're getting from PC is ACT (parsing) and the triggers it can provide you with.

I honestly can't think of any mechanic that needs a trigger in this game, unless you raid while drunk.

Idk I don't hear PC players complaining about hotbar space. Also mouse+kb is just better than a pad so yeah. ACT is not the only "benefit" to PC lol

I only hear hotbar space complaints from my friends who use M/KB! Both control types are absolutely fine in that aspect, M/KB is significantly better in PvP and... that's about as far as the advantages go honestly. You could make a case for healers too (especially SCH where you might be healing two different people rapidly with Embrace and <mo> macros are a godsend) but it's honestly not even worth mentioning for anyone comfortable on either control setup.

Anyone know how to target another player but have it not display? I have seen players before where they are clearly targeting someone but it doesn't show up when I click on them. How do you DO THAT ? O.o

That happens in a crowded area and your display limit for character and object quantity is below maximum.

That or they're using the face camera (Pause/Break key) feature.
