It was definitely buffed significantly. I think most recently was 3.0, yeah

Finished a relic a few weeks back, went 1/1 on most items, worst one was 1/3 or 1/4 I think. It isn't bad at all nowadays.
Personal experience, your milage may vary etc.
So, when choosing something to farm, is there an easy way to show what's needed / in demand on the MB?
Look at crafting leve turn ins. They're most likely going to be in demand.
Also it's a great time to level a gatherer for this.
Check the "recently sold" tab (click the little list icon). Usually if there's more than a few sales per day it's in high demand.
Idk if this is right place to put this but seems stupid to make a thread just to ask this : for thoose that bother with challenge log weekly for chocobo lvling wheres best/fastest place to kill the 100 mobs at 60?
The mobs only need to be level 50 or higher to count.
Off the top of my head there's like a million Deepeyes just south of the bridge in western highlands, seems like as good a spot as any.
thanks that was just what i was after worked out well.
It has begun ninja's. I am back. Gf and I both playing. She is on ps4 I'm on pc.
What job class should I attempt? My first job class in ffxi when it first came out was monk. It was useless for years. Lol.
I'm reading a war can tank as dps is better then a gladatior using hate abilities.
My gf is a whm. If that matters.
It sounds like to me you want to dps. MNK is a stellar job in this game though endgame raids prefer DRG due to better utility.
WAR can reach dps numbers as a tank but you won't really get the abilities to do this until level 52+.
Since your GF is a WHM it means queue times won't be an issue for you, so try classes out and see what you enjoy.
I certanly don't need a lot of gil, but I'd like a small, steady income to keep me in consumables and such.
Retainer ventures? Occasional spiritbonding sessions? Should I take up desynthesis or something equally stupid? Is there an option I haven't considered?
Pretty much everything you do will contribute to gil stash. Retainers often bring back saleable items from quick ventures (provided they have high enough level gear). Materia isn't very much in demand anymore as crafting is dead and pretty much all secondary stats have been rendered useless anyhow. If you really want to get to the heart of it though, gathering (MIN/BTN) has to be one of the easiest ways to obtain gil. It might vary depending on your server, but on mine nearly all of the HW area unspoiled node items go for a decent price. Grade 3 shroud/thanalan topsoil, spruce logs and darksteel ore are also items that are always in demand. If you have a garden you could try setting up rotations for jute, glazenuts or anything else growable that you find profitable. On the crafting side of things, glamour prisms are always a quick buck and easy as hell to make. The smithing ones have been inflated horribly due to all the loldrks glaming their armor. There's also maps (even the low level ones can occasionally yield good stuff, I got unhidden map on my last 2 archaeoskins and I've gotten it in goatskins before too), and conventional farming for often-crafted mats you can only get from field farming.
Gil rolls in as long as you do some basic activities in the game. It's actually harder to spend than it is to make...
To be honest, i've been bleeding gil since 3.0 - RL means i'm raiding most of the time i'm playing the game, and food costs are slowly eating away at my stash. I think i'm going to get my crafts up (Alchemy and Culinarian mainly to be self sufficient) and my gathering at least.
Is Desynth worth it nowadays?
The problem with desynth right now is that you probably aren't running dungeons that give things you can desynth starting out. So you'll be investing into desynth and may not get the same instant gil as you could hitting all nodes as they spawn (using aetherial reduction during the downtime). Its nice to have, sure, but the results aren't instant and 2.0 dungeons/coils aren't really being ran.
How does the dungeon queue system work?
Like "how do i operate this?" or "how does this function?"
Function.
