AST is only the worst when you ignore the benefits of cards which seems to be the trend, even when you need acc you won't be that far behind.

i always thought buffs like the cards were what machinist should have had instead of bardclone. would also have been nice if they hadn't then cloned machinist for bard 50+
bard is great until level 52.
As much as I loved to play war. I still feel paladin will have a use.
Currently fishing at 40. Loved it in ff11, and loving it in ff14. Gf is levelling culinary and botany. I will do fishing and mining. Not sure which craft to do with it.
the only reason to love fishing in 11 was due to haks in beau
I just find it funny that they changed the minigame in FFXI from cast rod, pull fish to try and deter gil sellers and then had the minigame be cast rod, pull fish in FFXIV again.
Also, I had a friend who also plays on a JP server mention that gil selling is pretty much nonexistent on JP server and that it's mostly a NA server problem which is why SE seemingly doesn't give a shit about actually doing anything about it. Anyone able to back this story up?
I'd try going onto a JP server, but he also mentioned that non JP speakers are almost instantly blackballed by the playerbases.
probably true. japanese can be pretty xenophobic. SE themselves, despite having an international presence, are not immune.
wasn't the fishing minigame something like XI's updated one in 1.0? I remember it being that way but maybe I'm just mixing up XI/XIV.
I don't remember the 1.0 fishing mini-game, but FFXI's got changed so that you need to fight the fish's HP down by pressing left or right in the opposite direction that your rod is being pulled.
No, XIV's fishing minigame wasn't anything like XI's. It was closer to XIV's mining/botany minigame that we're getting back in the Gold Saucer in 3.1.
You set a depth to cast your line then you had to know where to tug on a little semi-circle where your cursor moved back and forth (iirc)
They were all little hot & cold minigames, MIN was a circular pulse going in and out, I think BTN was a wedge with a line going up and down at an angle? (like a notch in a tree), FSH was a little indicator going back and forth across a small arc, same basically each just had a different visual style.
Choosing a depth/location to gather wasn't really part of it, after a few tries you knew where to aim depending on what item you were trying to gather and it didn't change.
Each item had a sweet spot that you had to home in on with the little pulse thingy but you weren't always gathering the targeted item (choosing the correct location depth just increased the odds of getting the targeted item vs all the other items you could gather from the node).
ooooooooooooh yeah
dude that system was pretty cool. shoulda kept it.
Except for how long winded it was for any practical use.
Oh you wanna farm something? LOL. Messed up because control input/lag? LOL.
Dumb system was dumb.
Also once you knew what to look for, you could get the item 100% of the time, so it was just time wasting for the sake of time wasting.
Gotta echo the "it was only fun the first 50 times;" I think being made into a Gold Saucer game is probably the best possible way they could've shoehorned it into 2.0
Alternative solution: Increase yields so its not such a grindy boring time-waster.
I'd like to thanks you guys (who answered to my Healer DPS question) as my friend really appreciated it. She doesn't speak english so I came to say thank you for her.
Fishing helps for Culinarian & Alchemist.
Miner helps for Smithing, goldsmithing, Armorer (which take from GSM/Smithing/CRP/LTW)
Example:
On my server, silver ingots sell quite fast, you can mine the silver ores (need 3 for 1 ingot) at MIN25, you can make silver ingots from GSM 25-30, basicaly if silver ingot sell well on your server you can use this opportunity to level up your MIN & GSM both together and make a little (but noticeable!) profit on the side.
Keep in mind the silver ingots will still be necessary to level up in this level range, but if you make too many of them you will be able to sell them for a nice payback.
Thank you for the info BG.
We just had our old raiding BRD return to the game, he left because of SEs changes to BRD and Crafting but he came back to help us!
He has 1250 ESO.
Hive Bow
i190 Head,Hands,Legs,Feet,Neck,Wrist,Ring1
i180 Body,Ear,Ring2

Normally I would tell him to grab the ESO weapon first, but we know in 2 weeks we can farm the new fight for his i200-205 bow. Any recommendations? He has a gobcoat to factor in. We are progressing A3S.
Body > Ring2?
Body > Belt?
