Yes, if you're starting from scratch, then get intot ST and do a i110 weapon and then get into WoD and do a i130 weapon. Your cure damage is linked to you weapon damage (I think) and stats, so higher level weapon = always better.

    3. Spam WoD for i120 left side gear.

    8. CT/ST/WoD weekly for Carbontwine and upgrade your poetics left side gear.
    9. Use soldiery to upgrade anything below i100 along the way if you want.

This is how I would gear up my alt. Of course you can change the order as you see fit, such as putting more emphasis on left side poetics before right side poetics.
THANK YOU. this sort of thing is exactly what I was looking for and it makes a lot of sense. especially the part about using soldiery to fill in gaps; that's one of the things I was wondering. I was working toward soldiery - I should be working toward poetics and using soldiery as it comes along (and it will).

That particular issue is because the mob is always facing you unless they're performing some kind of move that locks them in place. It may not look like it on your screen thanks to server delay, but all monsters basically have /facetarget on all the time. If you need to perform directional stuff solo, you're going to need to wait for them to do a TP move that takes time to charge.

The only way I'm pulling off a Trick Attack doing my Alexandrite maps solo is to wait for the stupid ogre or whatever to charge Elbow Drop or something.

Yeeeeeeeah, not a great example, but it's the only job I play that has a non-front action that I could name off the top of my head.

To max poetics every week you'll probably want to finish the story (to the point where you get expert roulette)

yeah I'm on the last leg. just finished

    Spoiler: show
freeing boobs mcgee and company from the Imperials

so I figure that'll be done by the weekend (I don't play a lot; full-time job and part-time school)

at least the story is getting decent. I've noticed that the text-only cutscenes are almost always a dragfest but the voiced cutscenes - especially ones with action - tend to actually be entertaining. Y'shtola and Yda fighting what's-her-face... that was fun, though too short.

You're almost done with the 2.0 scenario. Unfortunately to unlock expert roulette you'll need to get up to 2.5 storyline...

If he's taking his time, low-lvl roulette would push you to 50 pretty quick compared to the amount the story quests throw you.

Wish we had roulette before I got three jobs to 50.

yeah, I coasted to 50 almost entirely on roulette and challenge log. mostly roulette. sucks that the XP rewards from MSQ are going to waste now, but I wanted that 50 so bad lol. XP rewards should be converted to tomestones upon hitting the XP cap, but that might make things a bit too easy.

Is it normal to be kicked from party during Praetorium or other MSQ runs for watching the cutscenes? It's my first run and I wanted to watch the cutscenes but I was kicked from the party and everyone was telling me to skip them. Makes me want to not fucking play.

What is normal is them pulling and killing the bosses for you before your CS even finishes, thereby making you chain-watch CS. I've never seen people get kicked for watching CS, the group merely ignores them for the fights.

Normally this, but yeah there are shitheads who will boot someone for watching a CS.

I've seen people bitch about cutscenes but if I'm the tank they normally won't do stuff until the tank goes so they have no choice but to wait

I watched my cutscenes at the inn mind you

I've done lots of Pretorium and CM and I've never seen anyone kicked because they're watching cutscenes. (they just won't wait for you and go ahead and kill everything and the bosses). Definitely not a normal thing.

Yeah sorry dude but if you are new to a fight that has cutscenes, it is expected to not watch them. Of course, you can always ask if people can wait for you to watch the cutscene(press enter during the cutscene to pull up chat). I'd say the majority of the players don't mind waiting, its just the 1 dude out of 8 who runs ahead that you really are asking. But, like Neisan said, in ARR you can watch all cutscenes at any point, and on any job/glamour, back in the Inn.

Yeah I'm sure that's how the game was meant to be played ¬_¬

THere's other things to DF for tomes, if you are DFing main quest roulette, then you should be aware that new players want to progress through the story. They aren't obliged to cater to your rushed need for tomes, you chose MSQ roulette, you should obliged to wait for the new player. The whole point of MSQ roulette is for old players to help new players, not for new players to be carried and rushed through and to watch the CS out of order. If you want to rush through, then make a pre-formed party and speed run it, don't roulette it.

Buzz, wrong answer. You can't use the main story roulette unless you are solo, and nobody's going to form up a group to run MSQ stuff for a whopping 20 sold tomes (and a guarantee at no newbie bonus).

The only way the MSQ roulette is ever going to cater to newbies is if SE changes something such that no one can proceed while someone is in a cutscene.
