Defense: Fuck da' police. Patriots secondary should be adequate. Revis and Browner only made the Patriots defense 3% better than it was in areas of importance, and Revis didn't have really any clutch moments in the playoffs that I can remember. He helped put the nail in the Colts coffin but the that was already a little brother beating (thanks to PSI). I didn't want to jump on the "Butler is awesome" bandwagon just because he played one good game, even though it was the biggest game, but reports from training camp are saying he's been competitive on Edelman. People are saying New England's secondary is going to be shit, but it's more a mystery than bad. I suspect it'll be fine considering the Patriots offense is going to be productive as fuck this season, and our linebacker core is going to really come into its own in 2015. Patriots might have the worst front 4 in the AFC East, which holds three of the best front fours in the NFL, but their front seven generally is going to be very solid. Hightower and Collins are really going to become nationally known defensive stars this year. Hopefully Chandler Jones does too.

Malcom Brown will nearly fill the Wilfork hole in his very first year.

We also get our 2014 1st round draft pick back who barely saw the field last year.

Jabaal going to have his best season to date in a Patriot uniform.

Offense: Get your tear buckers ready. Patriots offense is going to be scary good this season. Not in a flashy, shallow sense, like a 2013 Broncos, but reminiscent of the 2011 and 2012 Patriots, which were 3rd down and redzone machines. In those seasons, Belichick, Brady, Hernandez, and Gronk transformed the tight end position with formations and philosophies that have been emulated by the NFL ever since. Unfortunately, Hernandez killed somebody, and New England had to abandon its innovations and basically wing it for the 2013 season. The addition of 6'7 Scott Chandler to play opposite Gronkowski restores NE's two tight end formations, and they've been practicing it in camp. New England will be able to go to a Blount/Gray-lead power running game, or hit its tight ends down the middle, where Tom attacks best, for huge 30 and 40 yard gains, all out of the same formations. Play action is going to be killing mother fuckers.

Meanwhile, a clutch and proven Edelman, Amendola and Lafell will be lurking in the slot and down the sidelines. This will be even more devastating because it'll have all the usual wrinkles of a Tom Brady lead offense, with New England's unrivaled hurry up and frequent, confusing use of motion.

Dobson's also been making a splash in training camp. I don't know where he'll fit in. I don't think he'll be taking Lafell's job until next season at best. Maybe #3 if Amendola and Edelman are in a rotation for the same role most of the time.

Prediction: Patriots dominate the league in 3rd down conversion rates with an absurdly high percentage and lead the league in scoring. Packers will be a distant second, and lack the domineering quality of the Patriots offense. NE's O will be a unique monster this year.

You can't have a Superbowl 50 without Touchdown Tom.

NFC looks wide open this season. I don't follow that conference as closely as I follow the AFC, but it looks like it's anybody's NFCCG to win. In the AFC it's the Patriots, then the Ravens, then everybody else is shit.

I'm a believer in Chip Kelly the racist. I think if Philly is patient with the authority they've given him, the Eagles at least make a Superbowl in the next 5 seasons. Most NFL head coaches are guys that have come up through a sort of football good ole' boys club. Head coach isn't something you can go to college for. It's dudes that, for family connections or other reasons, have just been hanging around NFL stadiums since they were in their 20s (or earlier). They get the jobs, because nobody else knows how the fuck to run an NFL practice, or write up plays.

There's only a handful of guys that actually have great minds for professional football, like a Belichick or a Pete Carroll or a Harbaugh. Most everybody else is just there because it was their turn, which is why the league is a revolving door of HC firings and hirings.

Chip Kelly the racist is one of those people, so that already puts Philly ahead in the game, and he now has, on paper, something similar to Belichick level authority over his franchise. It'll start to become 100% his team.

Eagles verging on sustaining consistent division championships and playoff appearances.

I don't think the Cowboys will sustain shit. Jerry Jones gives them too sketchy a franchise personality.

Seattle has what looks like a tough schedule. If they don't get the #1 seed, they aren't going to the Superbowl.

Definitely an opportunity for Rodgers this season to clearly lift Green Bay above the NFC pack and enter the postseason with the #1 seed. At a quick glance, they're schedule looks a little softer than Seattle's. Seattle gets the AFC North and Green Bay gets the AFC West.
