Deflecting your trolling for a moment, Mariota did look pretty good. Has some issues on releasing too late, but that it something that can easily be coached. He'll be a good QB in a few years under a pro system. But Winston is truly ready right now.
Being ready now is nice and all, but the issues with Winston aren't related to his football ability, but to his off the field problems. Is he going to be like Cam, or will he end up like Manziel?
I think Winston is a better passer and more intelligent QB than Cam, obviously with way less scrambling ability.
I could see Mariota as a very rich man's Alex Smith.
And yeah Manziel is a fucking train wreck lol. Have to say I was wrong about that, did not expect him to be that bad.
Keeklee gonna eat dat Jameis for breakfast
I mean in terms of going from college where he had troubles with the NCAA to the NFL. Cam had the whole thing with his dad taking money (or whatever it was -- it's been a few years, I've forgotten), but as far as I know, he hasn't been in trouble once in the NFL. Manziel had the autograph thing, the ego, etc, and whatever he's gone to rehab over. If I was a team, I'd be worried that Winston's troubles were largely not issues with NCAA rules, but criminal actions, and more importantly, he does not appear to have learned from any of them.
Cam stole a laptop while he was at UF, that's a criminal action.
What are you going off of to say he hasn't learned from getting in trouble?
The rape accusation, stealing crab legs(?), the alleged autographs, standing on a table and shouting "fuck her in the pussy" (while not a crime or anything, it suggests he's unaware that he's under a spotlight/scrutiny). There was also the supposed point shaving, but that one felt like it was more grasping at straws. There was a stretch where like every month, there was a new story of what Winston had done now.
"The next Cam Newton" is kind of damning with faint praise at this point, right?
Right, I'm aware of what he has done to get in trouble - I'm asking where you are getting the idea he hasn't learned from any of them.
From what I remember, the alleged rape was before he was even playing. Let's hope just as a human being he doesn't rape anyone else. The crab legs also happened a while back and the yelling incident strikes me more as "I'm the big man on campus and give zero fucks." Tyrann Mathieu used to do the same thing. He would stand up during a 1,000 person class and start talking to his bros 30 rows away. Of course it is dumb arrogant asshole behavior, but it doesn't matter in the grand scheme.
The rape accusations are exactly that, accusations...of which several investigations have all come up with nothing, because surprise surprise he didn't rape that girl. I've gone over this so many times I don't feel like rehashing it again.
The autographs thing was a non-issue, which, again, is a non-story that despite people investigating, can find nothing to implicate him.
If you actually think Jameis was point shaving, you are an idiot and I can't help you on that.
The crab legs thing WAS a crime, on a very small scale, which anyone with common sense can recognize as " the hook up". If you've never had a friend who worked somewhere retail and got you the hook up on some discounted/free shit, well I'm sorry that you missed out on something that millions of people do. BTW, he was suspended for that and did court mandated community service.
Fuck her right in the pussy, while a dumb thing to say, is definitely not a crime. Again, he was suspended for the biggest regular season game of the year (against Clemson) over this instance over this.
What kind of criminal trouble has he been in over the last year that would make you worry about? And I mean actual trouble, not trumped up ESPN-talking heads non stories?
id rather jameis be the next cam newton than the next roethlisberger!
no argument there
