Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been reinstated after U.S. District Court Judge David Doty ruled Thursday in the NFL Players Association's lawsuit against the NFL on Peterson's behalf.

It is the latest blow to the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell, who has watched his rulings against Peterson and Ray Rice both overturned in recent months.

The league had suspended Peterson through at least April 15 for his involvement in a child abuse case. But Doty said in his 16-page ruling that Henderson "simply disregarded the law of the shop and in doing so failed to meet his duty under the" collective bargaining agreement.

"This is a victory for the rule of law, due process and fairness," the NFLPA said in a statement issued Thursday. "Our collective bargaining agreement has rules for implementation of the personal conduct policy and when those rules are violated, our union always stands up to protect our players' rights. This is yet another example why neutral arbitration is good for our players, good for the owners and good for our game."

Analysis: Shelton could become the centerpiece of the Bears' new 3-4 front in coordinator Vic Fangio's defense. They really need a versatile, big body, and Shelton provides that as a stout run defender who can occasionally collapse the pocket as a pass-rusher. Chicago also needs to add an edge rusher or two, which is why I considered slotting Missouri's Shane Ray here, but I think the team can look to address that need, as well as safety, on Day 2.

eh. if they trade up they can probably get to 2 since the titans have said they're interested in foles. personally not a fan of trading that far up because of what theyd have to give up and how empty their secondary is. people think the top level of secondary picks in this draft is good and the eagles should get at least one of those players
