I've been reading online today that a lot of people were upset with how Eddie Murphy's big return was a letdown. I'm guessing SNL expected him to come back and do a comedy bit or something? The show's directors didn't seem like they knew he was going to end it so abruptly. I'm not sure what they expect of the man who hasn't been a stand-up comic for almost two decades and hasn't had a hit film since, what, the second Nutty Professor movie?

Dreamgirls I think? Though that wasn't a comedy and got overshadowed by the abomination known as Norbit. Think the only other think he's done recently that didn't suck complete ass was voicing Donkey.

Eddie Murphy a legend. Wish he was still relevant. Hoping new Bev. Cop will jump start his career. Too bad we didn't see a sketch from him instead of some awkward speech. Some great sketches.

Glad I didn't have to sit through commercials. Was a fun ride through memory lane, so many good skits back in the day, but so happy I switched to madtv in the 90s.

Kanye wasn't good. Sir Paul was just jarring because he is old and can't hit that range anymore. Paul Simon and *gasp* Miley Cyrus were good, though.

Why the hell would SNL go anywhere? It doesn't have any of the issues that an aging sitcom must face.

The "SNL hasn't been funny in decades" crowd is worse than the "SPORTSBALL" crowd

What's funny is I've found that to be highly generational. Most people love the cast they started with and every one after that was shit in their eyes. But SNL has ebbs and flows as departures happen and a new cast gets used to each other and gain their comedic timing. For instance, although I loved Kenan as a kid, when he started HORRIBLY and was still in a "Nick" sense of comedic timing, now I watch and he is genius.

Plus SNL can't not be funny with Drunk Uncle.

Late Eighties/Early Nineties was the best cast. Carvey, Myers, Hartman, Nealon, Farley, Miller, Sandler, Meadows, Rock, etc. So many huge names during that period. And Jon Lovitz
