plz don't kill me
plz don't kill me
lol nice ;p
Just got Odin myself finally for my 60th card, even after farming Bartz/Moogle for the last 4 hours and getting neither, so there's that.
1/1 on Lou from Rowena.
HA HA, FUCK YOU BITCH I'M OUT.
[backs out of room with both middle fingers raised]
I hadn't even challenged her yet because I was dreading the Random bullshit, such a huge relief (I still need Odin from the other Random dick in S.Shroud tho).
I hate so many people in this thread.
how do you get hab to play you....
cant get it to activate while everyone else is playing him now O_O
Have you done all the quests from him (and possibly all the Hildibrand quests)?
He's not time sensitive.
holy fucking shit, finally got Louisoix card. Just need Garuda, Leviathan, and Raubahn at this point from NPCs
Are there any tips for starting out? Did you guys farm cards from duties to get your decks up to snuff to start with? I got the card drops from the starter guy (spriggan) and two of the "Three of [whatever]" guys (moogle, some beastmen guy), but that still leaves me with primarily garbage cards. Do you just suck it up and lose fair amount? Buy card packs? Run duties?
I'd try and get one decent card. I got the Onion Knight from WoD. You can't have more than one decent card in the beginning anyway. Need to get a bunch of cards under your belt. Some people spammed the King for Godbert/Bahamut as he's easy to beat with Plus.
Everyone is beatable with a primarily 1 star deck but basically:
Snag Bahamut early on
Get all cards in Gold Saucer (I think only 1 dude sucks for a 1* deck so can skip him)
Try grab the 1* Beastmen cards (Silver packs rain these if they don't drop)
Beat the easy city NPC's (Innkeeps and usually 1 NPC)
Beat up on Imperial Dude (4 cards here, 3 should drop quickish)
Beat up on Hab (3 cards easy to get here due to Descension, 2 probably drop quickish)
Beat 30 NPC's for Squall (You only need to beat them, not farm)
Grindy GC (Ascension) and Limsa (Plus) are beatable with crappy cards too and have 3 drops each
Buy a few Silver/Gold packs with MGP gained
After that you should be at 30 cards (or close) which makes farming a lot easier. The 25-30 ish stretch can be horrible though.
The packs are good for building out your deck if you dont have many cards. Once you have most of the cards in the card pack, probably not worth getting them.
. . . that being said, im a card pack addict. I spend all my MGP on them, still missing Lahabrea, WoL, and Zidane.
Kill me.
Yeah, I have no MGP, everytime I save some I dump it all into packs.
The packs have exclusive cards in so you're going to be buying them until the end of time anyway! I try make it a point to not farm people who also drop from packs for that reason.
I still don't have a single exclusive card, not even Tataru!
Yeah I skipped on the bronze pack and moved onto Silver simply because all I need from bronze at this point is Behemoth and he can be won from NPC's so no sense wasting the MGP on the randomness of the pack
You're stuck with garbage cards until you get 30 different cards to start with -- until that achievement, four of your deck must be 1-star -- so doing hard work for a 3-star isn't the best use of your time. Variety matters, to start. That said, it can be useful to get a single high-value 4-star or 5-star card ASAP.
Roger in Central Thanalan for Morbol and Pudding, Moogle and Ixal from Jonas of the Three Spades, Spriggan and Chocobo from the Triad Master or Guhtwint of the Three Diamonds, Amalj'aa from Memeroon, Coblyn and Sylph from Maisenta in Gridania. These'll end up being your big mainstays, crappy as they are, just because having the additional variety helps. Most of these NPCs have very weak cards and/or bad AI, and Memeroon in particular will usually give you a win (coincidentally, making his 2-star card worth getting for the completion points).
Other NPCs have stronger decks, but have rules that allow you to close the gap. Same and Plus in particular can favor weaker cards, seen both in Mother Miounne and Miasenta in New Gridania, as well as by Guhtwint in Gold Saucer. Sezul Totoloc in North Shroud is harder, but has a number of valuable cards and some obvious exploitable card choices. King Elmer is theoretically beatable with the starter deck because he uses Plus, but it's kinda unreliable and I'd expect his AI to be patched eventually.
While no NPC uses Reverse as a constant rule, it also shows up every so often in Ul'dah, making easy play out of several NPCs there.
Ascension shows up on Ruhtwyda in the Gold Saucer and occasionally as a Shroud regional rule. A one-star beastman swarm deck isn't very impressive normally, but you can steamroll folk with Memeroon when this rule is active. Vorsaille and the Indolent Imperial use it too, but would recommend getting experience elsewhere first.
Swap isn't always a winner, but it can close a gap when your cards are awful. Gegeruju is the only reliable example of this rule, but his AI often gives away games in addition to letting you use one of his (generally powerful) cards, so this can be worth trying.
Buying Card Packs is iffy. All Bronze Pack cards can be easily gained in other ways, and only one Silver pack card is really worth it given how easy the beastmen are to collect otherwise. Gold Card Packs can save you a lot of time early on, since even the 2-star Gold Pack cards are pretty rare drops from their duelists, but the 4- and 5-star ones are so uncommon as to be major MGP sinks.
Some trials are worth farming. Ultima's Bane drops the 4-star Ultima card pretty often and is a win as long as folk hit the last Boom properly -- with the only other source being Gold Packs, worth a shot. While all of the Gilgamesh trials have a card, the Battle on the Big Bridge is a quick and common 3-star drop. The Dragon's Neck drops a couple cards reasonably often, but you're dependent on quality of DPS and the more common drop will also be found in spades beating up Helmhart in Eastern Thanalan. If you have Shiva EX unlocked and are trying to farm weapons anyway, she's also a good card. Most of the other Primals aren't worth farming : you'll end up knee-deep in Leviathans working for Merlweb cards, Ramuh working on Kan-E-Sama, Ifrit working for Raubahn, and Titan comes from multiple duelists. Titan, Odin, and King Moogle Mog are the only common trial rewards that aren't shared with a 5-star person of interest card, and running Titan EX is like pulling teeth while his card is pretty easy to get from card battles. Garuda's card might be worthwhile eventually, because Marcette's Chaos rule sucks, but it's not a good enough card to be worth going nuts trying to collect
Primals with an EX mode drop the cards dramatically more often in EX than in HM, so running Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, Moogle Mog, Levi, Ramuh, or Shiva HM is generally only valuable if you're working on lights. Only Shiva and Moogle Mog lack an alternative method to get the card; if you absolutely can't stand the EX mode, get something else.
I wouldn't recommend grinding dungeons or raids for your first thirty. It won't hurt if you're working on Poetics or your Crystal Tower weekly anyway, but even Tonberry drop rates aren't great and the time investment is pretty big.
I'm assuming down the road when they add more cards the next break point at 90 will unlock 4*s?
