I also remember one of the folks in the Gold Saucer having that bag turn into a shown card when beating them, but I only "play" Triple Triad when I'm drunk, so take that as you will.

Oh, they don't show up as actual cards once you get a drop? What the hell is wrong with my memory, ugh
This is what I was remembering as well, but I'm willing to be wrong. I also haven't won any cards from anyone outside of the Saucer, so maybe it works differently there, idk.
Oh, maybe I misunderstood, but.
When you challenge in NPC: It shows the MGP you'll get for winning and a mystery bag showing that it can drop cards.
When you win: If you get a card, the icon for the card shows up next to the MGP. You can hover over it and see what card you just won before you hit accept. However, if you know an NPC only drops a 5 star card and you can see the 5 stars on the card icon itself you already know it's a 5 star without needing to hover over it.
I was definitely thinking of when you challenge the NPC that the mystery bag was a card, but like you've said, I am probably remembering incorrectly.
Yeah, I thought I remembered that card turning into... Mog? Chocobo? Maybe Ixal? because I remember being surprised when it didn't change for Elmer after finally getting Bahamut and Godbert.
y'all niggas high
People probably looking at FFXIVtriad website and thinking they saw it in game or some shit.
I can confirm that you can still pick up the 1000 MGP participation bonus for the tournament without playing a single tournament match. I didn't participate because I don't have 60 cards and cheaters were going to win anyway, but I did sign up.
yo i'm just spitballing awful ideas like the rest of the forums don't tell me how to do shit
(though yes when i mentioned shitty drop rates i imagined stacks of Gerolt)
oh no I'm serious I need to continue building my Gerolt army
must have stacks because thats what FFXIV wants me to have
They should do a cup format, where players are drawn at random to play each other (only among online players) and have each round end after one day. If you miss your round then tough you're out.
well i'm glad people still have worse ideas than me
a real tournament would be vs. other players only and use a duty finder type matchmaking to do the brackets. 15 matches would be worth a couple of pools to narrow down to a top 16 single elim or something. i can dream. of course scheduling would be a problem, someone would miss out.
im going to hell for this
