Steam isn't taking the entire 75% either. It's an uneven split between them & Bethesda. I think Valve is getting a 33% cut.

I've heard it listed as 30/45 split between Valve and Bethesda, but according to some modders the Nexus is also part of the split.
Just download from nexus mods. The steam shop will eventually go under.
Being a new modder and figuring out what works and what doesn't has a decent learning curve. This move is going to alienate anyone brand new to the modding community. Sure it won't hurt those downloading just a few things (until updates) , but who wants to stop at only a few textures and a bow that shoots exploding cabbages?
Edit: because perverted phone.
Gabe Newell has a discussion up on reddit about this atm.

Says the 75% is set by Bethesda. Valve takes 30% of every transaction on Steam, so the remaining 45% is coming from the developer.

Petition put up for it.
Another good point:
SKSE is required by a ton of stuff, along with a few other big mods like XPMS skeletons. A ton of mods require these to be installed. Many of the mods currently being sold require the Skryim Script Extender and that team of people won't be seeing a single penny from this the way you have it set up. Also modding is a hobby, not a career. You will ruin the modding community by going about this in the fashion that you are.

I have also requested that the pages for Art of the Catch and Arissa be completely taken down. Valve's stance is that they "cannot" completely remove an item from the Workshop if it is for sale, only allow it to be marked as unpurchaseable. I feel like I have been left to twist in the wind by Valve and Bethesda.
In light of all of the above, and with the complete lack of moderation control over the hundreds of spam and attack messages I have received on Steam and off, I am making the decision to leave the curated Workshop behind. I will be refunding all PayPal donations that have occurred today and yesterday.https://archive.is/p0F6fReal-time update - I was just contacted by Valve's lawyer. He stated that they will not remove the content unless "legally compelled to do so", and that they will make the file visible only to currently paid users. I am beside myself with anger right now as they try to tell me what I can do with my own content. The copyright situation with Art of the Catch is shades of grey, but in Arissa 2.0's case, it's black and white; that's 100% mine and Griefmyst's work, and I should be able to dictate its distribution if I so choose. Unbelievable.
Gabe disappeared from the topic after this happened.

That comment was up to 1000+ upvotes now apparently lol
The Skyrim review board on steam is getting slammed hard. Was at 98% approval and now down 90%, probably lower by now.
Valve folded and has removed the paid mods. Refunds going out to anyone who bought mods.
I agree 100% with Jim Sterling on this one. Valve's gonna have to do a hell of a lot more than their usual "release it, then wring our hands of it and let the "community" police it (aka leave it to rot)" schtick if they want to make this work and reap all that profit. They're going to have to make sure that fraud and other concerns can't seep in. Them doing their usual "sit back and reap in the funds" thing isn't gonna fly this time.
Before this happened Bethesda had finally broke their silence on the issue at hand. They are also claiming they had Valve take down the cash shop and this wasn't Valve caving on their own.

TotalBiscuit brings you a lengthy discussion on the current modding scene alongside Robin "Dark0ne" Scott, owner and admin of Nexus Mods and Nick McCaskey, developer of the SMIM Skyrim mod
Start at 9 minutes, worth booting up the game and trying this out.
Also 6 minute warzone mod is worth looking at.
