Ori and The Blind Forest
Didn't see a thread for this yet.
Is anyone playing it? Just came out a few days ago,It's a Metroidvania-style game. I gotta say, it's absolutely incredible. Gorgeous graphics, tight gameplay, fun mechanics. For only 20 bucks you owe it to yourself to pick it up.
Really difficult at times, too.

ooooh is that out? I saw it in GI, looks amazing. I will definitely check it out and report back.

Fair warning, the PC version is pretty janky right now. People are getting crashes on startup, weird performance issues, failing to map controller buttons properly (while having no options to do so manually) and multiple different save-ruining bugs.
Some of the devs have been pretty active on GAF and their steam forums so they're definitely working on it. Just know that if you're going for the PC version you should expect to see at least a few minor issues and be backing up your saves regularly.
That said, it's still a fantastic game. I'm at just under 50% completion and it gets pretty tough at times, but it hasn't felt unfair at any point. The movement alone is tons of fun and there are lots of smart shortcuts to cut down on tedious backtracking. If you're a fan of the genre it's a no-brainer, but even if you're not it's worth a look. If you're unsure, I'd say wait until some of the more dire issues are ironed out. Unfortunately, even at $20 they're absolute deal-breakers.

Thankfully I haven't had any issues at all.
If I could impart any advice; save. often. You get an ability to create an autosave, and you WILL get punished if you forget it.

It's all dicks and airplanes
also haven't had any issues.
would recommend to anyone that enjoys metroidvania style, it's quite incredible. dat water rise chase..one of the more fun things i've done in games lately.
just got kuro's feather, looking forward to how this ability plays out since pretty much anything you get changes things drastically.

I was waiting for this, and it's at the top of my wishlist once my budget allows for it. I'm wary, though - Bugs, especially the game-fucking variety, are drawn to me like moths to a flame. I think I might just wait.
-
eh I'll give it a shot regardless. I'm sure they'll fix it soon, and it sounds like not everyone is having errors. this will be the motivation I finally need to install my USB dongle for the 360 controller!

Def give it a shot. This game is fucking amazing, and is receiving tons of glowing reviews. The music, the storytelling without being super blatant, the difficulties here and there.. they all seem to be perfectly tuned to me. You won't regret it.

It's all dicks and airplanes
Finished up tonight, final impression being that it's a very good platformer. I was puzzled at a few points toward the end. Difficulty is right where you'd want it for most parts, and the gameplay managed to stay fresh through the introduction of new abilities etc. Music was phenomenal and the game is beautiful all the way through. Favorite parts were the various chases throughout the game. The sense of urgency "holy shit get me the fuck out of here" you get is amazing. Nothing seemed to top the first one, though.
Only complaint was you can't go back for things you missed. Game shuts you in once you enter Horu and closes your game file when you're done with the last part, so you can't replay for missed items. Keep that in mind if you're going for 100%. The NPC tells you, kinda.

It's all dicks and airplanes
YMMV, my first play through was a little over 8 hours on file. Kind of what I expected from a 20 dollar platformer.
Think I was 10/12 on health and 10/15 on energy collectibles. So I didn't miss too much.

Wow this game is beautiful.

6ish it looks like.

I finished just over 6h30m with 11/12 life orbs and 14/15 energy orbs. Can definitely be shorter or longer depending on how much you die/how smart you are about saving/how much exploration you do but 6-8 hrs is about the range to expect.

You can def rush through in 3.5-4 hours if you really don't care about extra shit, or you can take longer. I've seen people say that they finished a file and immediately started a new one in some cases while others are saying there's no replayability. I don't buy the latter.

It depends on what drives you to replay a game. The game itself, or the things you missed while playing it the first time. Do you mind replaying the entire thing again, etc. As I said, it locks your save file once you finish the game, which for me took out any ideas I had of replaying it. I just wanted to grab what I missed.
-
...strange design choice to lock a file after completion, but I'll trust it makes sense in the context? Either that or... Well, I can't think of a reason why they're do that.
-
No, it's a stupid decision. But the game is so gorgeous and the music is so haunting I'm not exactly rushing to the end.

Think it's just to urge people to try and 100% it on their playthrough instead of having a new game+ to go back lol
Sort of dumb decision though.
