For Animal Crossing, if Nintendo is smart it'll interact with both New Leaf and whatever they have planned for late WiiU/NX.

Fire Emblem is really confusing. I would have expected Advance Wars for a mobile strategy game, and if the Fire Emblem isn't a strategy game but something along the lines of a franchise compilation game like FF Record Keeper or Tales of Link, that Pokemon may have been a better candidate for something like that. Hard to do waifu simulator on a mobile game I would think, unless its like Kim Kardashian Hollywood or whatever it was.

Nintendo’s Next Mobile Apps: Building on the positive consumer reaction to Miitomo, Nintendo announced that its next two mobile apps would be based on the familiar and beloved Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing franchises.

Nintendo plans to release both of these applications this autumn. As for the former app, while making it more accessible in comparison to the Fire Emblem games for Nintendo’s dedicated gaming systems, Nintendo aims to offer the great value of a role-playing strategy game. Nintendo will design the latter game so that it will be connected with the world of Animal Crossing for dedicated gaming systems. By playing both Animal Crossing games, users will find increased enjoyment. Both of these are pure game applications.

Compared to Miitomo, they have more prominent game elements, and the game content will tie closely into Nintendo’s dedicated games business.

Nintendo will provide more details about these applications closer to their launch period, and aims to have multiple types of apps that appeal to different audiences and different groups of players.

Check out Fantasy War Tactics if you want to see fire emblem done right on mobile. Good to hear they will at least try to make a SRPG on mobile instead of another puzzles and dragons spin off or TCG.

Fire Emblem & Animal Crossing to be F2P

Nintendo’s next two smartphone games will be free to download, the company’s partner said on Wednesday, increasing the likelihood that long-loved console game titles will rank high even in fiercely competitive app stores.

Tokyo-based DeNA, which develops and runs its own smartphone games, teamed up with Nintendo, the Kyoto-based videogame powerhouse, last year for the joint project. They released their first title, Miitomo, earlier this year, and are expected to produce four more by March 2017.

Nintendo said last month that the next two titles for devices running Apple’s iOS and Google-parent Alphabet Inc.’s Android software would be rolled out by the coming autumn. They are role-playing franchise Fire Emblem and community simulation Animal Crossing, both long-running popular game series from the company most known for Mario the plumber and the Legend of Zelda.

“Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing are both free-to-start apps,” DeNA Chief Executive Isao Moriyasu told The Wall Street Journal. A Nintendo spokeswoman confirmed Mr. Moriyasu’s comment.

Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima last month declined to make clear how the company plans to earn revenue from the two new titles, and analysts were divided whether Fire Emblem, a game with a vast and dedicated fan base, would adopt free-to-play style.

Legend of Zelda game in Development, Animal Crossing coming Late 2017

Nintendo plans to offer its game “The Legend of Zelda” for smartphones, people familiar with the matter said, the latest step by the Kyoto company to expand its mobile-games lineup.

Nintendo has been building its mobile presence over the past year after years of focusing on games for its own hardware. It has already released “Miitomo,” “Fire Emblem Heroes” and “Super Mario Run” for smartphones and has announced plans for a mobile version of “Animal Crossing.”

The people familiar with the matter said the “Animal Crossing” smartphone app is likely to be released in the latter half of 2017, and “The Legend of Zelda” would follow that, although they cautioned that the timing and order of the releases could be changed. Nintendo is developing the games with Tokyo-based DeNA.
