Listen python, just because I used the tab button instead of 4 spacebars doesn't mean you should freak the heck out.

oh boy. spaces or tabs....
I'm with Richard on this one. It wouldn't stop me from dating someone like in the show but it is pretty fucking dumb to use 5 spaces instead of one tab, for efficiency alone.
I can't think of a good reason to use spaces, unless of course its something dumb like your problem with python and some technical shortcoming requires you to.
So a group of us today somehow spent half an hour talking about how to pronounce gif.
I don't think i'll ever be happy at a job, people are so fuck
Boss ask me to check for a new phone system because the current one is old as fuck.
Spend about 20h on it, making search for companies, calling them, making them come for demos, getting quotes.
Make a documents with the quotes
Go see the boss and give him that, his answer was "why did you do this again? Profits are not that high so I can't tell the CEO we gonna spend 14k on a new phone system if the other one is good"
Ok but i just spend 20h on this? and what will you do if the old phone system dies tomorrow?
"We will look if it happens"
ffs
I'm still trying to convince the bosses to spend money on getting everyone on the same manufacturer/OS.
We've got our compliance lady on a 7 year old Macbook. Another boss on a weird tablet laptop thing, another on an X1 Carbon, and the rest of the people are scattered between MacBooks and shitty Windows laptops (Including me)
It's become impossible to wrangle everyone on to video chats or anything else because someone is always having an issue and we're spread across the goddamn country. I'm trying to centralize our operations somewhere and hire a proper IT person but my patience for this is waning.
Standardization is the key to IT.
Every time I've walked into a new site that is the #1 thing i do. O you like Mac's, fuck off we are not doubling our work because you want to use word on a mac.
Ratatapa, i know it sucks, but just keep looking. I felt the same way until my current job. I don't think i could be happier than where I am now. Good pay, good resources, a good environment of people, a nice amount of time off. It can be hard to find, because once you find a job like this, most will not leave. All of my other co-workers are 15+ years.
I have had offers for a lot more pay, but finding that balance is important. What good is 50k more if you hate yourself when you wake up.
Encrypted drives?!?! sounds like you guys are 100% protected from everything!.
I remember one user got flagged because she was going to certain sites from home. Turns out it was her child, but she asked how he was able to do that if the drive was encrypted......
We ended up taking away her telework because not only did she leave her laptop on and logged in all the time, she would log into our VPN tunnel and allow her kids to play on her laptop during that time.
The traffic doesn't hit our WAN, but our VPN agent logs all traffic when it is on. Just because it doesn't hit our WAN doesn't mean we don't know about it.
