He's apparently been wiped from the ZoE HD collection website now.

Metal Gear VA, Donna Burke (iDroid), claims Kojima was fired
Konami says she is "categorically incorrect"

Well in Japan, "leaving" normally is the nice PR talk for "yo/my ass got fired." I wouldn't be surprised if he was fired, lots of companies have been doing it to their older core members to (mostly) try to appeal to the newer generation and western audiences (if Japanese/Korean based.)
It's hard to realize that the guys like me that grew up in the late 80s and early 90s aren't the core demo anymore. I can't wrap my head around this.
This is really bad for any chance of Silent Hills to be put out now. I had high hopes for that one.
Such truth here. Watching younger people love their tablet games or cell phone games boggles my mind. How is it possibly enjoyable to use a 4" screen or w/e (phone) to play a game? And what's even more baffling to me is seeing a $70 controller specifically for cell phone gaming (sprint store) where there probably are fools that buy it. And don't get me started on the hundreds of indie games that look worse than a Nintendo game but sell for $30+ and people love them (I'm exaggerating a little). I'd rather fire up a PS1 or Super Nintendo emulator and play a real game than that garbage. Baaaaah I'm ranting now.
If you honestly had fun playing a game on the GB/GBC/Game Gear/GBA you really can't mock anyone for playing a game on a 4" screen. I always hated that argument. Hate on the game itself if it's not fun, but to hate on the medium where I'm sure the vast majority of us own portable gaming systems is pretty damn dumb.
Ok, well honestly you really are in the minority there. I may also as I've owned a GB, Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket, GBA, DS, 3DS, PSV, and also play games on my phone and IPad. I'll be the first to shit on games like Farmville and pay wall games that pretty much make you pay obscene amounts of money to play, but to hate on a medium that is popular and creates money is dumb.
I get what you're saying, and do not take any offense at all to it. I honestly do not hate on the companies (or indies) that pump out these games because as you said, they generate money. As a consumer that has no idea what's really going on inside the walls of a developer (so I'm completely open that this comment may be quite ignorant) it's disappointing when I see many games for the tablet/phone instead of a focus on their console/pc games, especially when there are issues with what they do release for console/pc.
Completely off topic but semi relevant to the above, I was blown away when I saw Terraria in Best Buy for $30 for the PS4. I thought to myself, do people actually spend that much on a game such as this for a console? The assuming answer would be of course they do otherwise the developer wouldn't create it for the console as well. It just blows my mind because that game has regularly been under $5 and as low as $2 for pc. Just to reiterate, I understand the reason being is because if there is money to generate the developer (and stores) will do it. In this day and age I can't fathom spending $30 on a game with Nintendo graphics that's widely available for a third of the price if not less.
On topic, I really REALLY hope Silent Hills does get a release and it doesn't suck!
With that I think it comes down to convenience. There are still a lot of people out there where a computer is nothing more than for porn errr i mean email and web browsing. To go along with that, gaming on PC has really gone digital. For the most part, you walk into best buy and the only games you will see are console games and older and less tech savvy people, they haven't embraced digital downloads yet for PC.
guess that means no more new 2D castlevania games at all. The possibility of this was allready very low since they started with Lords of shadows and the director/producer of Symphony of the night left the house, but i can guess now its kinda dead :/
I loved konami for ther metroidvania games!
idk. I always associated handhelds with kids who had to driven by parents/those with jobs with a lot of downtime, public transportation commuters, bad relationships where they play in secret on the john cause they are scared of the backlash by playing games in general. Yeah, there are some games that only come out on handheld, but as a kid I popped them into my super gameboy. I always thought the amount of support they have here was strange.
At least growing up, there were a lot of RPGS on the game gear/game boy that I loved playing. And I had plenty of home consoles as well. Growing up i had the Atari 2600, 7800, NES, Genesis, SNES as well as a game gear and gameboy. But then again, I never cared what platform a game was on. If a game was fun, I would play it.
