possibly. it's been long enough and the game's changed enough i don't remember a lot of the old numbers.
i do remember, though, that I needed exactly 11 STP on gear.

Def 6 hit. 5 hit was possible for a lot of jobs but you had to sacrifice a lot of other gear to make it possible which negated overall DPS. IIRC.
6hit just put out so much damage that exp mobs melted. But put a 6hit with domaru against a 6hit with a hauby in a 3hr exp session and you'll notice a difference.
It was also about accuracy, and hauby really shone there. It let you free up food or other slots for better gear which wouldn't be worth it otherwise if you werent capped on acc.

I always felt bad when I blew up someone's cluster synth. The added sting of the recipe always munching up the eyes on fail didn't help.
Y’all made the mistake of not leveling RDM first like me where I could be terrible all the way to 75 and nobody bats an eye. Then I could actually start putting work into being good.
And I mean like I had party macros for Dia and Paralyze and shit and nobody ever called me out on it, loooool I must have been annoying as fuck in 6 hour xp parties.
yeah, but player skill played a role, too. if your haub sam sat on his TP past 2k with a hagun, but your domaru sam played smart, domaru sam could easily make up the gear difference. playing smart was always a better indicator of DPS output than gear. gear can't fix stupid.
It's hard having this convo working on 10 year old memories of gear stats lol, but didnt dusk have slow on it?
I also dont remember if I one WSed in domaru or not if you had hauby, but that might rearrange the math too. Iirc one of my builds on the journey to get to my actual desired build has less stp on WS but extra on TPing, or vice versa.

Rdm was my first love. Rode that shit to all the popular events before I discovered how much more fun melee was lol.

dusk had movement speed reduction, iirc.
Yall are making me want to resub, but then I scroll up to the conversations from the weekend and I'm like uhhhhhhhh

just don't play with gred. in some ways the game is pretty different, but in others it's the same just with different gear.
most of your old 75-cap stuff is useless (haub, for example) outside level cap, but some of the better rare/ex stuff (like rajas) is still useful in some situations.
I've had fun just collecting stuff. Argus, Simurgh, Roc, and many others I've just had fun getting the stuff. I'm not messing with limbus gear since it's pointless in a level. To me, it's just fun to do the stuff on retail that I couldn't before. And I personally enjoy exping so I don't mind running thru 1-99 actually killing stuff instead of leeching.
If you had a Rajas/Brutal getting the +11 was only ever a matter of getting the extra 5 from either Hachiman hands or feet.
You could do Hachiman hands + Fuma or Dusk gloves + Hachiman boots.
Before I got Usukane boots I used the former because I hated the annoying movement speed down, also Hachiman hands had more STP than needed which meant I could swap them out for Alky's on WS and still make the 6-hit, the hand slot being important for that since Alky's had so much STR.
See, that was a lot of the fun of this game for me. Exploring new gear options on my journey to get better gear, situational shit and making the best of it.

Word.
You're correct, but more than likely with appropriate food you were better off with the additional 3% haste than whatever Haub was giving you, a fact that became clouded by rampant anti-Domaruism
again, wish I could find the threads or the name of the poster who demonstrated all of this. It was the same person who gave an extensive breakdown as to why double march was virtually always ideal
