yeah i mean you barely touched on why kings were supposed to be good
just unprofessional, that sort of brevity

My book published by Brady Game Guides is forthcoming and much more thorough. Please look forward to it.
I look forward to the section that explains why AHL is the best subjob for ELT.
Jokes aside, yes, the game is largely soloable until Escha or later content. However, you'll still have issue on some of the later RoV and Adoulin missions without good gear and trusts, further depending on your actual job choice. For those just wanting to see the story, I'd say the game is "worth it" for that reason alone, but I'd still say the endgame is largely lacking due to some missing modern features, lacking originality, or simple grind for the sake of grind. So, I wouldn't be surprised for someone to hit that point and get bored and/or frustrated given a lot of the established cliques aren't very willing to take in fresh blood because it'd mean less rewards for them overall.
Started the quest to get fenrir for SMN, barely solo'd Leviathan Prime with my level 90 BLU. Hardly knew what I was doing but muscle memory started to kick in lol.
Are you still fucked if you want to cp party on apex mobs the non magic burst way?
No.
Melees skillchaining weaponskills are just as fast or faster, depending on buffs.
I have spent the past 3 days on the Bastok leg of the San d'Oria Journey Abroad mission because I spent all 3 of those days doing anything but the mission. I killed Stinging Sophie twice. I've gotten every NM in Palborough except No'Mho. I made 24 Galkan Sausages. I got 5 levels on RDM killing things that don't give me XP because of RoE quests. I'm seriously considering camping Lizzy.
This is the most fun I've had in the game in a long time.

Honestly the game is super fun to just be casual in now. There's no pressure on anything. Especially if you just want to dip into some nostalgia content.
Its a 15 yr old game
How old is your laptop if you have to upgrade it to play xi?
My PC barely stays on (finally started ordering parts for my new build yesterday) but it can run FFXI so you'll probably be fine. Most phones could probably run FFXI these days if they had the space.
Upgrading your laptop might actually make it harder to play FFXI because it doesn’t like Windows 10 or DirectX sometimes.
There's dgVoodoo2 to help with that now at least.
I don't think it's a matter of age (I think it's like 6 years old) and more that it has shitty video/audio cards whatever else. Alls I know is I did a test to see if it could run Slay the Spire and it failed
But I am a computer gaming n00b

slay the spire isn't ffxi
shit was built to run on fucking ps2, pretty sure your laptop can handle it
Yeah, my laptop is a bit older than yours (2009/2010ish) and doesn't have a graphics card and can run it decently from the little I tested it out.
my old pc from 2004 ran ffxi just fine lol.
2018 and I'm currently camping Lord of Onzozo....
Fuck I hated camping that bitch back in the day. Was on disability due to shoulder surgery, so it was like 1am camping it with a few linkshell members. Not even 2 minutes after we claimed and killed it, some drunk asshole took out my uncle's and nana's car. If they weren't parked curb side, asshole would have gone onto the lawn and gotten my car as well.
I built a PC for ffxi back in 03. Then used my laptop from 06 to run it for at least 4 years. Laptop didn't have a dedicated video card. Anything you have that turns on and has disk space is probably overkill.
I remember trying this on a Compaq Persario. Wasn't bad but after awhile I got overheating issues and had to play on PS2 for quite a few years.
