i was 16 when i started playing, in june of 2004. i lost interest pretty quickly because i couldnt figure some stuff out, and my friend who was gonna play with me hadn't gotten it yet. he finally got it in august, so that's when we really got into it. incidentally, i have suspicions that the sudden change from relatively active to completely sedentary (XI+driver's license, which i'd gotten earlier that year) may have contributed to whatever caused my Crohn's. i was symptomatic that november, diagnosed in december.

towards the end of the game before I quit i did a few events with sore and ayaname, they actually weren't bad at all individually. I knew sore hated me completely though lol. I imagine being in an ls led by them would've been a nightmare though I had so many ex-NN people join my ls talk neverending shit.

I did tele quests in 2004 and did tele taxi a while in Jeuno. Mea/Dem/Holla was 500 gil back then though or something and Yhoat/Vahzl/Altepa 1k? Anyway this funded my Astral rings, erase scroll and the first few 100k of my Vermillion coat, then RMT tele taxi ruined my business and I had to make income for the Vermillion in another way. That coat was the first really expensive item I bought at lv58 WHM for 1.9m, but I was a pimp WHM when I dinged into that coat at 59

If only players had realized the benefits of chaining T and VT mobs earlier than ToAU; I think it would have been a lot of fun.

There was, it was called KRT.

Glorious KRT, where BRDs were tested, WHMs challenged and monks had a fuckload of fun. ToAU exp spots always felt like lazy KRT to me and for me never reached that level of fun from KRT.

I think I even got 2 of my 3 WHM keys that way lol.

Speaking of Kuftal: AM renkei pt's on crabs. Was fun stuff. Slow as hell, but fun.
