Oh damn I didn't know it was that long. I can give it a shot for sure then. I thought it ended monday and my weekend is pretty swamped since I have to work tomorrow then be out of town most of the afternoon Sunday.

Game is free atm, chance to play the best game ever made again
Wait, it is?? I thought it was just reduced... NO. no. I will not fall into this trap. You can't even jump... or use the mouse... Nooo.
It's free to login for this week, at least. There have been some pretty great changes made in the last few years.
So what are the shit tier classes? When I left I was a 75 PLD/BLU/WAR/COR and had pretty much everything else around the 70s
pld is still wanted to tank most things. cor semi popular. blu is basically the current most en vogue and highest potential... of course that's at 119 with all spells empyrean ws etc.
Given your levels and returning and such probably going to be doing a lot of soloing with trust.. so really any job will but one of the dds probably best at least until you get to the hard stuff you need real player tanking for and can't zerg lol
Ah I see. Kinda sucks about BLU since dear god I hated that job and all the gear it needed just because some spells used the dumbest shit for modifiers on Damage (Cannonball being mostly DEF/STR/VIT for example)
While BLU is still fairly gear intensive, it's largely no longer from building sets for different physical spells. They just aren't that relevant most of the time. Inventory options are also greatly expanded though.
That's good. Are there any good guides to see what the current trends for subjobs are?
Generally speaking, the job forums on FFXIAH tend to have a thread dedicated to how best to set up a job. The BLU guide is great. Pretty much though, you're mostly looking at /WAR for physical DD or /RDM for nuking. Others are used, but usually for more specific utility.
If anyone does start playing again, highly recommend picking up the Shantotto II trust from the login campaign going on. Not available very often but is an extremely useful trust.
RDM doesn't get AoE Haste. They do get Haste II. Technically, SMN has AoE Haste, and there's a Haste bubble from GEO (though it stacks with Haste). That said, there are a number of ways to increase buff duration, and a RDM possessing a lot of them (and using Composure especially) can have a very long-lasting Haste (and other buffs) and greatly alleviate buff rotation woes.
Most of what BLU gets is self-only, unless used with Diffusion. They do get self Haste II via Erratic Flutter, and additional magic haste to stack with it via Mighty Guard (can't be kept up entirely full time, but will self-cap magic haste with Haste II when it is). Since Diffusion can also increase buff duration, it's typical to AoE Mighty Guard...so you do kind of have a common AoE haste. Just one you'd typically be trying to stack with something else.
Bleh that's one thing I was worried about. I fI do a backline job I'd have to do a haste cycle too.
It's far less of a given than it used to be, since until/unless you've got a full party or more, you'll likely have Trusts mixed in. So, one of them can probably manage that.
True, and I doubt I'd do group content.
Anyway, looks like my account wasn't fully integrated over to SE's new account system or whatever. Says I need to resubscribe to play. Kinda tempted to just because I can't find a good MMO. I tried XIV on several occasions and while I'm tempted to go back I know it will be short lived, GW2 scarcely adds new content, BDO looked fun at first but I just can't get into it, and same for WOW.
I don't think you really have to resub just switch to the SE account system
Went to transfer during the free period, realized you can't without an active sub. Blah. I wanted to see what Asura is like. Carbuncle seems totally dead.
