By all means, if they aren't immune (or possess that flavor of resistance such that only Stymie or Elemental Seal ensure that the spells land), it could be an efficient mechanism to control the mobs. Of course, it would require a divine magic skill set and/or a general M.ACC set (that can be made from Hagondes and Delve II gear).
You'd have better luck sleeping them with standard sleep II. Up until the party of formors spawn they slept fairly easy at 130. After that it was resistant even with focus up but through some spam you can land it on them. Everything else is easily sleepable in all the other zones.

Is there any reason that--despite prior-established trends--darkness-based sleep works better than light-based sleep on the fomors?

It's not against prior established trends; Fomors have always been more vulnerable to sleep than lullaby/respose.

Ok so if you really wanna pop Hades #2 try this:

After you kill leg NM the person who entered the group goes to Leafallia to get CS and upgrade KI to the new 132 version.

Person with the 132 KI now enters group.

    Pop Leg NM again.

Then proceed to kill the normal NMs in the zone.

When last normal NM is killed then Hades #2 should pop.

132 has different mechanics we already established aka 10 magic kills for first step. Second step is unknown at the moment. However it should be impossible to pop leg NM on 132.

Not sure if it's been reported yet, but killed over 10 so far and this was the first double we saw.

Probably the whole idea that undead are hard to dark sleep that used to go around even though it was only really certain ones. Or maybe that most are related to darkness element. Though I wouldn't really say more just not much different and sleep is more geared towards than repose and brd macc is weird

Killed Perfidien, it was really evasive even with torpor/hunter/mads/acc set. didn't have idris/blaze of glory torpor though. I'd recommend Vex/Attune for whoever is in melee range, didn't do too much damage at all

From the days of yore, some FFXI Wiki noted that either fomors or shadows were less resistant to darkness-based sleep, but not that they expressly resisted Repose. For some reason, I remember them dropping ice crystals (that's only relevant if you see elemental basis as being related to crystal though) and so it makes sense that they're not totally aligned with darkness if that's true. I'll need to head back to Fei'yin or something though to confirm this now.

But wow, okay. I guess when I sleep the RNG using Divine Emblem and Repose while soloing Brothers d'Aurphe I was making myself work more than necessary. (Not that it didn't land just fine on D.)

I have a good tip on wannabe Fistule:

For us it seems that SPIKE DAMAGE causes the split. Nuking Bliz V for 5k+ caused a split every time even on the babies. Gently massaging it dead with Bliz IIs for 2500ish seemed fine.

Of course gently massaging it dead might be the last thing you want to do when the pillars are in FUCK YOU mode once again.

Death by gentle massage! I think that's a death we can all hope for haha!

    Thanks for the info!

We have been using this strat for the last days; just don't do over 3k damage (I think the number is a bit arbitrary but that is the one we run by) and it never splits. It doesn't take long to die too, with mages nuking T2 and melees just not WSing (or doing very basic ones that you can guarantee won't go above 3k damage).

{That's interesting!} I knew there was something we were doing that was causing it to split, just couldn't figure out what it was. This is very helpful info, as we sometimes screw up and end up wiping to this fucker b/c at one time during a fight, there were 12 copies going around making everyone go SPLAT!

Not sure if it was said earlier. The tier two elementals that aggro around the umbral and fairy aren't true sight/sound. Can invis/sneak up and sight aggro the NMs. Didnt get to test if it was only invis or only sneak, just stacked them.

I know I have run right through elementals without any sneak or invis.

Oh wait, I just fucking realized what day it is. I'm guessing the Fistule "don't do more than 3k dmg" thing was bullshit.

I've noticed in general that mobs in Vagary (aside from bosses and things that look particularly mean, nasty, or important) don't always aggro outright. Sometimes they wait a little bit like they did in FFXIV 1.0 (emulating ANS appraisal). A firm distinction from Delve mobs where everything made its desire to kill you manifest. This could be just lag, so take this with a grain of salt.

    Spoiler: show
They remind me of the ramparts in Silver Sea II that take some time to aggro and start opening after you've approached them. Who knows if I'm observing that correctly though.

As easy as it might be to believe that this is a joke...it is not. My group spams tier 1 nukes only on Brimboil. It will split once, max. This last run we just finished didn't split at all.
