Broxton to the Cardinals
Pirates in the middle of a pennant race and they get a shit starter, a middling reliever in Blanton, an atrocious 1st to platoon with Alvarez, and one good player in Soria. And the blind Pirates fans are clamoring at how amazing these deals are. What a joke. One of the richest owners in baseball and the mother fucker refuses to make any big moves. Pirates NEEDED a right handed hitter. They got Morse. Oh and a 37 year old Aramis Ramirez. I am calling it now. They'll get into the wild card and have to face a stud lefty and get knocked out.
The Pirates are already a really good team with the misfortune of being in the same division as the Cardinals.
My argument is that trading for a righty bat would be a luxury that wouldn't move the needle much anyway. Facing a stud LHP in the wildcard game will be tough with or without one right-handed bat. I'm somewhat biased as a Braves fan after the Mark Teixeira trade, but I hate the idea of selling the farm for a few short-term players unless you're someone like the Royals who know their window is finite and are trying to take full advantage.
I think it was smart to trade for bit players around with edges without giving up anything of real value that harms the outlook long-term.
So Wilmer Torres became a mets legend yesterday
I get where you're coming from. But this is the first time in over two decades that the Pirates have had a winning team multiple years in a row. The Pirates ownership sells false hope by making moves, yet none of them are moves a winner makes. They are designed to attempt to improve the team, but on the cheap. I read a comment from a Pittsburgh sports writer that said the Tabata for Morse trade was one of the best ones the Pirates have made in years.
Seriously.
The Pirates have a very small window to compete. Because ownership has been, and always will be, more interested in lining their wallets. And the truly amazing thing is that they have the fans buying in on all of it. How many times I've seen a Pirates super fan saying they can't afford to go after someone because he costs too much. With the 11th richest owner in baseball NO player should be out of the realm of possibility. It's a joke.
Well that was a fun Jays game to be at.
Tell me how you really feel, Greg Zaun.

That was amazing.
Well Ventura is a fucking idiot, that was great to listen to.
In the best joke I've heard this week, the MLB suspended Sanchez three games (and Gibbons one game).
Homerun Donaldson strikes again. Hide yo starters, hide yo relievers, 'cause he dingin' err'body out here.
Who needs base runners when you can just slam home runs all day every day?
