Wow, after all the "censorship" cries, I'm amazed at how much isn't censored. There was a character that was wearing less than a bikini top, boob jiggle physics, lots of cleavage shots on Tsubasa still.

Also, I feel like this is actually Persona 4.5. It's graphics are perfectly between P4 and P5, normal SMT weakness combat, highschool characters with focus on building relationships. So far loving it (7 hours in).

So after playing through the Chapter 2 dungeon that was heavily censored, I can see the point to censoring it.

First, the pictures on the walls of the dungeon are all of models the boss had abducted and taken photos of in revealing clothing. In a way, it could be seen as a sort of human trafficking (I know its a bit of a stretch).

Second, when Tsubasa confronts the boss he originally rejects her because she can't impress him like Maiko can. This is resolved through Tsubasa gaining confidence as a model, but taken at its surface level the original could be taken as "to impress a man, just wear more revealing clothing." Which could be a terrible PR move in America.
Now, the dungeon did have some issues from the actual Japanese dialogue which included the boys finding a book of Maiko's old photoshoots where they become infatuated after seeing the photographs. This conflicts with the actual pictures that have her in normal clothing.

TLDR; a little was lost in way of dialogue for the dungeon, but censorship was likely the right move for PR reasons in America based upon our own customs and issues.

Apparently, there's an in-progress, working mod that undoes the localization changes. Requires a home-brew enabled Wii-U, Loadine, and a dump of the English game. Sounds a bit of a pain, but if you're really interested in it, and don't want the JP version, there's something to look at.

Just a little info/tip: after chapter 3 you can upgrade weapons you have previously created and maxed out. When upgraded, you relevel the weapon, meaning +1s to the very abilities you learned from it before. So a great way to level up skills/passives.

Fuck this sloppily rushed game on both sides of Atlus and Nintendo, it could have been an amazing collaboration.

The censorship is just the diarrhea sprinkles on a shit souffle. If they are going to keep doing this bullshit because of what you call "PR moves" then just don't even bother releasing the game, because you already pissed off it's intended audience that actually plans to pay for this and play it as it originally was.

As fucked up as this sounds, I really hope the NX fails and Nintendo dies after this console gen, they have been going in a horrible direction. Ass backwards when it comes to being current with hardware, still trying to be gimmicky, and these absolutely horrendous decisions to butcher localizations is pissing me off. I will never support Nintendo again, the 3DS was a great and amazing little handheld but I can't support this fucking coward of a company anymore. Next Zelda game be damned, I stopped caring about Zelda the moment I realized they weren't ever going to make another game like Link Between World's again, so checkmate Nintendo.

I am so glad to be part of PC gaming again, it's gotten so much better, it's pretty jarring now.

I don't care about the new Zelda or any other 1st party Nintendo titles, so it's no loss for me. Saving me money if anything.

I just wonder how Bayonetta got through uncensored when Nintendo censors stuff left and right. Clothing censors don't hinder my enjoyment of the game, and I can understand they do it to try and push more copies, but Nintendo is also the only company who does this anymore and I doubt it's going to change anytime soon.

In fact, I think the clothing they put in place of the swimsuits looks better, but like censoring the bosses breasts that's in a full support bra is lol to me.

I don't care about fan service or bikini's, it's the principal of it all. If they censor and change all this amount of content, what's next??? I don't even want to find out. I haven't bought any Nintendo hardware or software since 2013 and this certainly doesn't help at all.

I'm sure it's a great game with a fun battle system given Atlus is involved, but I sort of expected a demon summoning/tactical warfare game, and this is not at all that. This game is not for me in more than one way.

I'm pretty sure more people were "pissed" that this game ended up being PersonaJPop instead of an "actual" SMTxFE. The censorship/"localization" is kind of meh. It's Nintendo. They've been kneejerk adjusting things as minor as swimsuit sprites in Pokemon since GBA days.

Yep, exactly what I am getting at here. The censorship is just an extra kick in the balls after the fact, but still stupid. Demon summoning and tactical warfare turn based system FE style? Sign me up!

Instead they made a completely new abomination, completely failing to introduce people to either SMT or FE series.

To be fair, I hear it's a fun game, but that isn't my point. No matter what kind of game of any genre Atlus makes, it's likely going to be fun (See: Catherine) and this proves it. They made a JRPG with a story based off singers of jpop, clothing, and waifus and people are eating it up anyway. This should have been taken a bit more seriously, I might have even bit the bullet to buy a Wii U.

But anyway, just my thoughts on this as a whole. Everyone here knows I am a huge MegaTen fan, so why anyone is surprised is beyond me. I just refuse to support something that isn't for me, that's it. I hope you all like it though, keep giving Atlus your money.
