I hate doing all of welch's bullshit quests for the bonus things. But i think i have finished them all. last one i did was the bunny pies one and my party is around level 50. Running around Trek'ir and the story is just getting so damn easy to guess at lol.

Sounds like you need some HBO.

So it seems like leveling up abilities is a quicker way to evolve them. If you do nothing and and the skill proc enough times it will level up without using stones. If you want it up quick then use stones.

Anyone confirm? I don't entirely trust GameFaqs.

Pretty much that, you dont have to level a skill or a roll to level it up. My MC has a level 4 double blade skill because it is easily the best skill he has so far.
Also some of the roles form a new role once you get them to a certain level

It's a decent game but if i didnt already own it i would say to wait. its a decent 7/10. Reused combat and models IMO. Should of had a new battle system. Also a lack of towns. I have seen like 4... in 12 hours of gameplay.

P.much this. I didn't have any other games I wanted to play at the moment, just ended my XIV subscription again because it's boring as fuck and wanted something to do in my free time. Enjoying the game so far but it's not like it's blowing my mind or that I'm itching to make it home and turn it on

I haven't ran into any glitches so it warrents more than a 6 but its not that great.

It's not bad, just kind of average and maybe on the short side. I feel that's the norm for huge studio JRPGs these days.

Bottom line for people wanting to know if this is good or not:

Do you like Star Ocean: Play 5.
Do you not like Star Ocean: Play something else.

Its a nostalgic entry and does just enough to keep the fans happy, but not much for people who havn't been wanting something sweet after SO4's bitter aftertaste. I'm very much enjoying it, because I know it's a tall order to get another SO2 or 3, and SO5 pleases my palette.

game is becoming a special kind of infuriating. Hadn't saved for almost 2 hours got to the part where they are in the underground base and they get to the playroom where Relia lived. 3 monsters spawn charge forward and instant game over... I don't even know who the fuck died but i saw everyone standing before the screen blacked out and i know the character i was playing had full health. So i lost 2 hours a progress because mobs just run around and do whatever they want and i haven't found any way to take control during battle of who they go after. I do know they refuse to go after what ever character i am playing and if i switch will immediately go attack the character i just switched from. Anyone can tell me if i'm missing something on mob control?

What I did was give her the machine killer role (obtained by getting the other killer roles to level 3) and kept throwing healing items at her if her HP got below a certain point. I also made sure I had a couple bars of reserve meter in the tank beforehand. You'll have to do this sort of thing a couple more times later on.

This is something i am not entirely sure on i've just been getting the bar up for bonus rewards i read the tutorial but between when they gave the information and the point i am at now in the game i completely forgot what it said. I'm gonna hop back on now and figure it out now that i've cooled off from last nights rage quit.

1) There's a save point right before this boss so you not saving is on you. And 2) You have to protect Anne, the brawler girl who's on the computer trying to get the data or whatever. So she died and you lost the fight. Toss her some items or stand in front of her and guard or etc etc.

But yeah, there are an assload of save points, how do you not save once in 2 hours? =\

Games been super easy havent seen a need to save every time. Like i said it was an instant game over once they spawned there was no time to even tell wtf happened i didn't even know i had to protect Anne they were still talking when the game over appeared. Just redid the fight and didn't change anything besides saving outside the door and they went down super fast with 0 problems. I did what Darkepyon suggested though with "machine killer" but i put it on Relia because like i said i didn't know who died the first time.
