A sexual predator is not someone who accidentally (or even negligently) ends up sleeping with a minor nor is it someone who is attracted to prepubescents or adolescents. A sexual predator is someone who seeks sexual contact with a partner who is not mature enough to consent. It's a another important distinction which some people aren't making. Accidentally or negligently sleeping with an underage person (this whole bar scenario) is not predatory behavior. It would be sleeping with a minor. As Byrth said, some would even label this as rape under false pretenses with the underage person as the perpetrator. If someone is permitted into an age restricted area, then their age has been verified beyond a reasonable doubt even if they appear to be younger. Younger within reason, obviously it's an issue that you can't make black and white rules for and you can't ever turn your brain off anyways. It seems like a silly hypothetical either way. I've never heard of anybody sneaking into a bar, sleeping with someone, and then accusing them of statutory rape afterwards.

In regards to sleeping with a minor or even seeking out sexual contact with minors, I feel what's more important than age is maturity. If an older person is on the same maturity level as a minor, why is more nefarious for them to sleep with a minor than another minor?

I know in CT, you can do just as you said. I went to a restaurant/bar in CT and we always sat in the bar growing up since there was no wait (and we wanted happy hour nachos!) However, I believe CA has two different types of licenses where one says no one under 21 can enter.
Most [all?] states; this is the difference between bar and restaurant/club that has liquor license, with actual food being separate.
