How was QIT? I tried to take a course in that one time but it didn't seem very well taught as we spent a long time reviewing basic linear algebra for the benefit of the physics undergrads.

It was hard. Professor wrote the book and is one of the biggest publishers in the field so demand was high and room for bullshit on the EXCEPTIONALLY long hw was zero. I enjoyed it overall except that we dove right into a higher level of formal probability in week 1 than I had been exposed to as a math major in undergrad. The pure physics majors were drowning for a good long while.

There was no review whatsoever of almost anything. He introduced and covered the SVD for example faster than my lin alg classes - to a class who had majority no idea you could decompose non-square matrices or even realized rules would be different. I remember a 40+ minute argument on a hw problem where I was telling someone they couldnt diagonalize an arbitrary matrix they had no info on, the best they could do was triangularize, and it was just a whole bunch of does not compute flashing across their eyes.

Overall I got nothing out of it but some cute new math tricks and some physics cocktail party knowledge since I don't work in the field, but I did enjoy it. Not enough to take quantum computation from the same prof next semester though. I learned my lesson this time around.

    Criminal Litigation & Procedure: A
    Police Administration: A
    Criminal Theory: A
    Random major-required applied bullshit: B
    English Comp: B

Note: Never, ever wait until your second-to-last semester to take your English and Math requirements. It makes you feel old. And feeling old saps your motivation for those classes. Oh well. One more semester for me as well.

    Two more to go here.

    A's in everything.

    Critical Analysis - Economics
Global Leadership and International Trade Policy
    International Marketing

I basically do this shit for work anyway.

NYU doesn't give A+'s. Fucking dicks.

One more semester and academia can eat my dirty asshole forever.

I'm taking a month or two off of work and traveling. You guys seem pretty terrible for the most part anyway. I'll party with Sath when I hit Louisiana after graduation.

That sounds familiar. My QIT professor straight up gave the physics majors leave to assume diagonalizability on someone homework problems to avoid this. My buddies who stayed in the course had the same opinion as you; learned some parlour tricks but they don't really remember much. We've all agreed that hot fashion topics courses with applikashuns are to be avoided like the fucking plague as only abstract nonsense for autistic retards seems to be technical/focused/coherent enough to improve your power level much.

Agreed. I generally have had good luck with special topics courses but they've all been in astrophysics/GR/PDEs/LA aka my wheelhouses. First time branching out and meh results.

    Welp:

    Electronics: B
    Probability: B
    Differential Equations: C
    Ethics/Professionalism Lab: cr
    Power Systems Lab: cr.

I needed to ace my DE final to pass, so it's kinda bittersweet.

    Thermodynamics: A-
    Material Science and Engineering: A+
    Mechanics of Solids: A+
Dynamics of Machines and Systems: B
    Dynamic Systems Lab: A+

Feel like I should have gotten at least a B+ if not an A- in Dynamics of Systems and Machines. Going to try to talk to the professor next week and see what's up.

First semester of grad school went well.

    System Specifications and Modeling: A-
Advanced Digital Systems Design and Generation: A
    Networking Algorithms and Analysis: A
    Advanced VLSI Systems Design: B+

I probably should fight for the A- in VLSI, but the amount of effort I'd need to spend going back and forth between the professor and the TAs makes me not want to even bother.

    Sociolinguistics - A+
    Practicum in Language 4 - A+
    Dialectology - A+
Historical and Comparative Linguistics - A
Love, Sexuality, and English Lit - A+
    Practical IT - Flash Programming - P (Pass/fail)

I'm satisfied. Only had one class that was taught in English this semester (PL4), so it was one of my tougher semesters so far. Only 3 more until graduation.
