Yeah I'm not sure what the use would be for emergency tactics unless they give a potency buff.
It also doesn't state what kind of actions theses are. Instant? Aetherflow stack use up? stances?
Never said "non-avoidable".
Makes giving E4E to the whole party slightly more useful, in that the derps can occasionally give Damage Down to the attacker.
It would be better for coordinated derps. While not a great example, having everyone stand in front to get bellyflopped by Twintania with DTe4e would be one such situation and it seems excessive.
Though this may also point to HW bosses having physical AoE but that only makes every job have some decent mitigation for it (Foresight, Manawall, Perfect Dodge, Keen Flurry, etc).
Well, there are those few instances (hydra, T11) where you have both tanks eat cleaves, maybe they're going to play on that more. Still a pretty niche use though.
I'm trying to think if there's any instances where having the whole party eat an attack to spread damage is ever physical, but I can't think of one. Always magic. Maybe E4E will finally just proc on any damage? Fuck you ADS.
Stand in avoidable AoEs and take unnecessary damage to (maybe) reduce damage next time you stand in unnecessary AoEs
Except the E4E debuff only lasts 20s, so probably not.
There are mobs that don't have any physical attacks to proc E4E at all already, I don't see them changing the way mobs attack purely for the sake of this.......kind of maybe almost sometimes useful "we couldn't think of anything else" skill.
If they switched things up..it would be a lot easier to be hyped for, but it's simply the design style they went with. I mean, even look at what is (most likely) Alexander - any bit of lore we have now referencing him mentions very little to nothing at all about it being an Allagan creation..yet it's Coil 4 from appearance.
I don't think that it's looking at it as a job..and more: "Well..this was expected."
Allagan are the new Zilart. Neon, glowing zones are the FFXIV equivalent to off-white cermet walls and hexigons.
It fits the world lore though. Its like the Atlantis of FFXIV.
They could design boss encounters and trials that give us something to wallop at any given time, but the path of least resistance is a simple DPS surge to offset the build-up between phases; in the end, knowing the encounter will remain the best DPS increase. This also sets a precedent for GL as a resource rather than a straight buff.
It's a great idea. I'm not just looking forward to it--
