A well geared/JPed RDM is very useful on these NMs (Distract/Frazzle III, Dia III, Refresh for nukers, additional nuking power), but no, they're not essential. My groups always bring a PLD for the T3 NMs, just for simplicity's sake.

I agree with Sath as that setup is approximately what my group uses. Ours is moreso PLD GEOx2 SCH BLM WHM generally speaking, but SC+MB method using immanence from SCH works wonders. Ideally, your mages have magic burst bonus sets and SCH has weather IIs along with the gift that reduces strat timers, but should not be absolutely necessary.
Even Pazuzu is doable with that.
Thats what we use for everything else
and when we are 12 we usually go
geo, blm blm blm brd sch
cor pld whm brd rng thf
and everything else goes down nice and smooth
but behmoth is giving us trouble. nukes seem to be resistant.
Which sch skillchain do you use? and what do u magic burst? how much do your magic bursts do? Does he seem resistant to you?
I read that he changes weakness alot and that seemed the case when we tried him but he also seemed to change super fast. what do you do about this?
My group just nukes earth. Slap on Focus/Languor, the highest tier of Frazzle you have, and put on as much magic accuracy gear as you need. These are not fights that you want to skimp on gear with.
Ok so you do hits some resist and just basicly plow thro till some hit good?
Cause my group stoped trying earth when it resisted and was trying all sorts of diffrent spells which is probably what did us in.
Pazuzu is doable that way but we had to have both idris geo's bolster to get it dead in time. In fairness we had 11 people and 3 of them were definitely undergeared to the point of leeching so with 7 it would just take a long time. The fight goes wayyyyyy faster with rangers.
We nuke Earth as well and as mentioned, you'll want to do Focus/Languor and Frazzle. Since we have 2 GEOs, we also use Acumen/Malaise. Here are a sample of my magic bursts as GEO from a fight:
Magic Burst - Stone V:
6653
12855
13488
23723
Total: 56719 Number: 4 Average: 14179.75
Magic Burst - Stone IV:
4964
5248
15672
18024
Total: 43908 Number: 4 Average: 10977.00
Some variance will occur if a bubble goes down at the wrong time and depending on when your magic burst lands relative to the others due to the NM magic damage reduction thing or resists.
edit: Niv beat me to it! I'll take out the bits he said.
He's definitely magic resistant but we still kill him in a reasonable amount of time. When Niv says SCH SC he's talking about using immanence. Fire to earth or wind to earth would both work for the skillchain. Don't forget to throw some enfeebles to help yourself out (choke burn - don't think shock lands and frazzle) and have the BLM cast stoneja before the burst to lower its resistance to more earth nukes. As I recall there were some moves you can dispel on him too (like a warcry or something) to make the PLD's life easier.
Great. and ya with the way your numbers look the first few where low ( like ours) and thats where we gave up and tried other elements. So well try it again and see how that goes. Thanx everyone for all the information! it was helpful!
And we have rangers as well so well do panzu that way probably.. mythic cor is super nice for alot of them too!
edit: got to admit after reading that last post by nivlakian
..,.. its so simple i feel kinda stupid for not thinking about it lol
Stoneja doesn't lower earth resistance...
Well from the numbers hes putting out.. and how they are increasing with each magic burst.. It seems like the more you cast of one element the less resistance he has towards it. I think thats what he is meaning.
For the ranger route I'm thinking you want to aim for 1200 r. acc before food and buffs (a bit lower if you use hunters roll). At 1186 r.acc I was sitting at 90% accuracy (although there were misses due to shadows, luopons going down, and hitting the wrong ranged macro like a derp). The ranger who was closer to 1100 r.acc had something like 82% accuracy. Our buffs were torpor/precision/fury/frailty + distract 2 (if not 3 - I pay great attention to detail) + sam/chaos + ramuh's favor (22% crit) + firestorm II (we had some mules prebuff the cor and sch stuff). As a sidenote, jishnu's all the way. I've seen some groups playing with the trueflight route but you would need 4 geo's to really take advantage of that ws and still do good white damage).
Oh haha. Someone told me that ja spells lowered resistance to all nukes of the same element for something like 30 seconds. I assumed it was like the quickdraw mechanic!
Edit: I checked wiki and it's a 5% bonus to all spells of the same element which can be multiplied by subsequent castings. The window is 60 seconds.
Last time we did Behemoth, we did it with four. Blu, Geo, BLM, and PLD.
As blu pretty much just spammed Sandspin until Entomb recast was back up. Mixing in magic hammer for MP, never run out of mp.
Ahh darn ok
One. 5/5 Geocrush can average 15~20k damage on Urmahlulu with COR (Puppet Roll) and GEO (Malaise+Languor) and 50-99k during MB. It's a 8~ min fight without Astral Conduit / Bolster and no Mythic required.
Impressive, was it before the Spur nerf? What's your Razor Fang dmg average on 135s with Frailty and Beast Roll? How is the ACC without Run Wild?
