But if I speak up and say that something really bothers me, I shouldn't be harassed or treated like I'm fucking annoying or stupid for saying it bothers me. Decent people would be like, "Oh, I didn't realize that bothered you so much. I'll try not to do it anymore."

I don't ask the mods to baby me or to ban people on my account because what people are doing isn't against the rules. I'm just asking for some courtesy. This is just one of those things that really bothers me, and I wish it would stop. And I'm truly sorry that CS keeps getting brought into this too, because he didn't ask to be connected to my fucking psycho ass on here. I'm not expecting people to walk on eggshells over it. But I have repeatedly (and I do mean repeatedly) asked people to stop and they keep going.

My post count per day is way down. The last day and a half has been the anomaly, a lot of it came from hours on the trains (6.5 today). So, yw.

Anyway, I left Holland today, back in Germany for the night, and Sweden tomorrow.

She's asking for courtesy, she's not demanding that Powers That Be aid her. This is like... what actual people do. There is a difference between friendly trolling, and being a trolling jerk. She didn't indicate misogynism at all-- I mean, you can be a jerkwad without be a misogynist.

Oh, absolutely-- Aks definitely feeds the trolls.

It's probably somewhat unavoidable: she has an enormous heart, enormous compassion. She is intensely concerned with happiness, especially the happiness of others. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and make not mistake: that takes more courage than most believe. At the heart of it, I think she doesn't understand-- not really-- the internet. Like, she KNOWS, but she doesn't understand. Compassion is so much a part of who SHE is, that grasping that that isn't a core component of everyone just ... doesn't compute. Not really.

She takes a lot of abuse, but she adds a lot. I mean, I heavily disagree with her on a lot of her positions, and the way her compassion manifests is often a way I don't think does the most good, but I certainly don't look down on her as a person for that. I admire her.

She has asked for information in the past. She willingly and actively listens to just about everyone on the forums. She opens herself to all manner of abuse, and knows it's going to happen-- and the thing that has set BG's harshness apart from so many other places on the internet is that it has (almost) always felt like it came in the spirit of friendship and we're-in-it-togetherness, until someone (Maz) just goes full-on mate mode.

I'm not-- and Aks isn't-- asking that she stopped being teased. There are still a ton of things open. And she's not asking the mods to stop it. She's asking you to be decent folks, and tone it down. I don't think that's an unfair request, and the way it's been candidly delivered is respectful.

Wow this is so incredibly accurate, every time I come to general and see Aks post I feel like I'm on a 14 year old girls tumblr page.

Aks, you had several people tell you EXACTLY what to do to get people to stop and you did the exact opposite immediately after. Honestly at this point you're just doing it to yourself and I don't even understand why.

It smells a lot like "Well look at what she was wearing. She was asking for it."

The onus is not on people to not be targets, it's on others not to do fucking awful things.
