It's amusing to me how easily the battle lines get drawn. I suppose it shouldn't be shocking, considering we're dealing with diametrically opposed ideologies. On the one hand, you have people who believe in personal accountability and responsibility for themselves (not worrying about others), and on the other hand you have people that believe others should be accountable while they never have to. Shitty stuff happens every day, but these two groups handle the shitty stuff very differently. One group looks inward and tries to learn from the experience and what they themselves can possibly do to prevent it from happening, and the other group looks outward and blames other people for the shitty stuff to try to get them to not do shitty stuff in the first place. These philosophies apply to virtually every argument in the politics section. Rape as victim blaming (e.g. what can I/a person do to make themselves less of a target) vs. people need taught not to rape. Trolling/harassing on the internet as growing a thicker skin/not inciting vs. you shouldn't say things that make me/others feel bad.

This isn't the thread for waxing philosophically, but it was just too amazing how each side was so clear, and so quickly.

There's about 10 million historical strawmans that could be presented when you consider how many persecuted people throughout history needed only to "look inwards" to see how they could have gotten out of their shitty situations.

I'd tend to agree. It'd be nice if everybody was cool to everybody else, but we're never going to have such a utopia. Although, maybe we shouldn't. Strength through adversity and all that. To remark on the false equivalence more, yeah, it's heinous to even begin to compare rape to something people on the internet said. Granted, I think it's heinous to ever compare someone's words to physical actions that cause irreparable undeniable harm. Getting all emotional over some words is kind of insane, when you think about it. Especially when the words come from people you've never even met in real life, and likely never will.

Just did ~5+ hours of walking, seeing things, pictures, trying local food, etc in Copenhagen.

Stopped to kick it in the sun on a bench and some mother was holding the hand of her older and likely rather autistic daughter while crossing the street.

Anyway Copenhagen has some holiday for celebrating equality going on while Distortion is also going on as far as i can see.
City is packed, and don't get me started on the awesome chaos that is Distortion.
