Also, there are few a immutable reasons why FFXIAH.com is such shit in general. I say in general because some of the job-specific forums are still frequented by very helpful, useful posters. Even those manage to be shit up by the fucking mouthbreathers though.

BG, at the height of FFXI (drama, relevance, etc) was not a place for "commoners". Hell, I was a mod of the crafting section back then and if you uttered one fucking syllable about day/direction theories you were fucking gone. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. You were shamed ruthlessly and forced out. I enjoyed it very, very much.

Those who stuck around BG were those with tough skin, willingness to contribute to a community as a whole, and for better or worse, the "hardcore" crews. KillingIfrit, Alla, etc were the places people went when they A) didn't know about BG B) got chased the fuck out of BG. FFXIAH.com forums populated as a result of both KI/Alla being abandoned and has since taken up the mantle of the "place to go for FFXI information!". You never want to be "the place to go" ever. Not on the internet, not in a video game, not with the multitude of fucking asperger-ass mouth-breathing, petri-dishes with fingers that somehow still manage to remember their POL password every day.

FFXIAH.com you can get away with trying to be a princess, or a special snowflake, and it is (from what I've seen) the people who try to call those princesses out on their shit who get lynched more often than not. It's OF tier.

That's the problem with AH forums. Granted, we have much less leeway these days to verbally abuse somebody out of an entire section (thanks FFXIV!) but overall the BG XI reputation has persisted I think, and many FFXI players still regard BG as "ugh elitists". I like it that way.

It is but then again every city is.
I prefer the suburbs but a city like this that is more a city center with less crowding around it is a very happy combination.
As for the enjoyment of your sister. Some people enjoy that everything is there they want locally. Some people like the energy and crowds. Some people were simply born there and stay for that. Some like the vibrant night life cities have. Some enjoy the better paying jobs. Unique restaurants, increase in diversity, culture, schools.
A lot of reasons.

Personally I don't care for many American cities and didn't care much about my drive across the county with my ex. While I did enjoy being with her.

When everyone here asks I say of you want cities its NYC, Miami or Orlando (Disney)/New Orleans/Dallas or Houston / LA or San Diego/Seattle and go home, two week trip you just saw America. Which confuses them because they think its so big compared to Europe and that's 6 places.
Or I say you are better off just driving across the country for a week or two and just seeing the nature.

Don't see how it's really crazy aside from it being half hearted.
In the rest if the world there is a pronounced difference in culture, ethnic makeup, and structure just over a border. With countries smaller than various states.
Here you have a melting pot of all ethnicities and cultures. While we have our own culture and perversion of food. By far and wide it is a culture of everyone else's culture. How many cities in this country do you really need to go to for that?
The middle of the country blows compared to the costal States, and is a nature trip.

New Orleans is rather different than Miami or Dallas, but if you go to NYC you have no reason to go out of the way to PA, NJ, pretty much the NE. If you go to LA or San D then you can skip the rest of the west unless you really wanna go to an overhyped man made oasis in Nevada.
As potential inb4. No, Salt Lake City is only really a nature trip, skip.
I only even recommend Seattle for obvious bias and because its really pretty.

As food is one of the main features of any culture, you could easily split the country into many different regions. Not only will they offer their own local fare, they also have their own local traditions, customs, and sights.

An easy example: There are 5 main regional barbecue styles. North Carolina, South Carolina, Memphis, Kansas City, and Texas. That alone gives you 5 areas that are proud enough to declare their own cuisine style; you'd better believe they will give you a laundry list of things to do in their area. And that's just one cooking style.

How about drinks? Beer, bourbon, moonshine, wines, and regional mixed drinks. Vermont, Colorado, California, Kentucky, Tennessee, Washington. You could even make a case for Puerto Rico since it is a US territory.

You have areas of mountain, forest, plains, desert, and coasts. Everything from small towns in swamps and mountains, to enormous cities. If you go to 9 cities and declare you're done with the US, you're wrong. That's it.
