Affinity is crit rate. By default a crit is 125% damage (or 75% if a negative crit procs). The Critical Up skill increases that to 140%.

High affinity is absolutely ridiculous in this game. SnS (thru Affinity oil) or SA (with Energy Charge III Hunter Art) can quite easily get to 100% crit rate, which paired with Critical Up is straight up murder.

Blast/Slime will never be at the level it was in 3, but it's still a very effective status effect since it works to some degree on every single monster. All of the Hellblade Glavenus weapons are very, very popular choices, and they're all blast type.

Just find whatever and don't be too concerned about the upgrade paths.

For the most part the best melee weapons are generally the Grimclaw Tigrex, Hellblade Glavenus, Nargacuga, and Seregios versions. Except for some of the Narga weapons all of those are on their own path.

How can I know if I'm hitting a weak point? Whats the bonus damage for hitting a weak point?

I'm pretty sure I can improve my kill times a lot if I exploit the monster's weak points instead of just hitting whatever.

At a time when like 90% of NA is asleep and Europe is at work? Yeah might be difficult.

There's a slight visual indicator when hitting a weak point. The usual blood spurt will be slightly larger/bolder and you'll have a frame or two of your weapon getting "stuck" in the monster like it was cutting deeper than usual. Basically if you are hitting the right spot the game will seem like it's dropping frames periodically.

I thought that was because I was hitting a breakable part, nice to know it's pretty easy to spot.

I made a new gearset, started to use item buffs and switched from Aerial SA to Striker, my hunts are 10ish minutes shorter, it's insane, plus I don't get combo'd to death left and right anymore, guess my gear was in dire need of an upgrade.

I want to be good at hammer, looking at youtube videos it looks so damn satisfying to play, but I suck at only targeting the head.

edit: Agnaktor officially enters my Annoying Monsters list.

So man did I find a weird fucking bug that forced me to use a save editor to salvage my game. No idea if it came from the fact that I'm playing on a cfw or what.

Long story short one of my talismans randomly started making the game crash if the game tried to load it in memory, and since that talisman was in use in one of my sets I couldn't go to the equipment set screen without it crashing. Had to figure out which slot in the equipment box it was (the game would crash when I moved over it in the equipment box screen), export the save and use the editor to delete it. Really have no fucking idea how something like that happens, but w/e. Hopefully that's not a thing that happens again, or god forbid it can happen to someone without the ability to delete the item with an editor, since there was no way to access the talisman in game.

II've heard a lot of problems with saves becoming corrupt on the sd card too, so be sure to backup your saves regularly.

Generations does not allow saves to be backed up I think, to try to prevent cheating.

My 3ds doesn't allow it, maybe it's tied into whatever issue caused the talisman glitch.

Nakarka is my jam, once you understand how it works it's a super entertaining fight for a big imo.
