I've been playing mostly with Aerial SA during the 3 star quests and that thing is like playing on easy mode, since the sword vault is an attack itself I can topple the monsther rather easily, once they're the ground thrashing I spam the sword combo. They die insanely fast, downside is it's pretty simplistic, as it stands you're never in axe mode with SA.

I also tried the hammer, it's really fun but I suck at it, specially with adept style, I love how the charge attack changes to an uppercut, but I almost never land it, plus neeeding to dodge first D:

Yup! Sorry Krandor, I keep forgetting to like... stop and check forums and shit. =P

How's everyone finding the game? What you expected? New changes and additions to your liking? I told myself I'd try a weapon I never played before, so I used GS for the first two Village ranks and HR 1 to 2. Now I am farming SnS and Bows. I'll likely switch around but goddamn it I just love Bushido SnS and Bow...

Up to HR 5 now, taking a break from grinding keys to farm charms since I have access to shining/time worn now.

Got a Blunt+5 charm which could be fun down the line with Akantor gear.

Settled into Guild GS (both evasion arts), Aerial SA (with Energy Charge), and Strike CB (Energy Blade and both evasion arts).

Probably gonna craft the seregios lbg here soon since that gun/playstyle was so fun in 4U

    Edit : oh wait, it lost rapid fire on normal 2? ; ;

Fwiw unless you have a specific charm build, I'd strongly recommend doing gathering quests as a cat. Infinite pickaxes/bug nets, infinite stamina, and don't need hot/cold drinks.

20 minutes of popping ants after letting them eat at the mushroom node, not a single ripened mushroom. I know I'm doing it right, but I'm still sitting here scratching my head.

I did a quest earlier that was gather 4 crab brains, took 35 minutes and I ended up with 20+ each of the other drops because they just WOULD NOT DROP.

I think I figured it out. There are more mushroom-eating ants in another area of the map, and their stomachs end up blue after eating as opposed to gray. Gonna farm those for a bit

edit: Yep, that was it... So dumb.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. It's still a bit too many gathering/small monsters quests vs big monster quests. Anyway, it's actually a good way to learn the new maps, and coming from being new in MH4U, all but the desert one are new to me.

All the gathering stuff goes away later on, aside from cat stuff or solo farming for ore/bugs/charms.

Mind sharing which area this is? I'm stuck on that quest right now and both areas with the bugs have had grey bulbs. I've gotten one mushroom out of like 20 bugs so far. I honestly wouldn't bother if not for the whole Hayabusa Feather from beating all Village quests being absurdly powerful.

Edit: Nevermind I'm dumb. I forgot Area 2 had bugs in it and sure enough not only do they always get blue butts but they move at like 20x the speed of other area bugs.

A fire based Plesioth that burrows. Whoever thought up that monster needs to die.

At least his AI doesn't do the hip check that often from what I've seen.

What weapons are you guys maining? I'm probably going to go with Hunting Horn again this time around. Is there an absolute best HH Arts-style? I've really only played the game for about two hours (which means I haven't done anything at all). I'm terribly out of practice and landing some of the Arts is kind of a pain in the ass. Either I get hit, or the Great Maccau was out of my range (training). I'm probably going to get the BuJaBujaBu set starting out. Anything else I should look out for (equipment/weapon-wise)?

    2 questions

    1) What does unity does for Guild Card?
    2) How do i change Hunter Arts (It says something about buildup) Is it another stats like Attack S M L etc?

Unity goes up as you do quests with people who you share guild cards with. It's basically a method of giving you free items based on playing with "friends". At certain breakpoints (I believe every 25 Unity) you will receive a Guild Ticket from the master which can be traded with the Veggie Elder in various zones for specific monster drops, typically the Plates/Gems. If memory serves me it goes Regular > Bronze > Silver > Gold > Rainbow > Cosmic or something to that effect. Essentially if you are planning to do a long run of quests you should exchange Guild Cards with the people in the room to bump up your Unity faster for free rare shit.

You can change Hunter Arts at your house same way you change weapons by selecting Style/Arts at the bottom. Buildup is just how long an Art takes to charge up like Absolute Evasion is (XS) so it takes no time at all to charge. If that's not what you were looking for then could you clarify a bit more? I'm not 100% sure if that's what you were asking about.
