Lego Worlds (Lego's take on Minecraft)

Now available on Steam's Early Access

    Spoiler: show

LEGO Worlds, a limitless collection of procedurally generated worlds made entirely of LEGO Bricks, where players build unique environments and define their own experience. Developed by TT Games, LEGO Worlds allows players to use LEGO building sets digitally so they can build and create wherever their skills and imagination roam .

The game enters Steam Early Access today, with the goal of allowing the gaming community to provide feedback for continual improvements and the integration of additional content over time.

In LEGO Worlds, players have the freedom to alter procedurally generated worlds and create anything they can imagine one brick at a time, or use prefabricated structures to customize their environments. Large-scale landscaping tools are available to modify terrain quickly and easily. Entire worlds and creations are brought to life with characters and creatures that interact with each other as well as the player in unexpected ways. From helicopters to dragons, motorbikes to bears, there are always interesting ways for players to explore the vast worlds and discover hidden treasures. Fans of the LEGO building sets will be rewarded with a select number of commercially available sets that can be unlocked in-game during Early Access, with many more to come in future game updates. Future plans will also offer multiplayer and sharing features, for friends to experience each other’s worlds and show-off their creations.

Holy fuck, I just bought it. Going to play around with it tomorrow. I have a bad feeling the year and a half I spent creating a scale replica of the Titanic in Minecraft is going to be transferred over to this game lol

While you could argue that Minecraft is videogame LEGO this still seems pretty shameless to me.

From about 40 mins yesterday I would say that it is pretty bare bones at this time. Right now you pretty much just find stuff.

The world looks amazing and the auto building structures along with the large scale editing tools are very nice.

Not much yet since I didn't get to play much but I feel its more fun for me then minecraft simply because it does a lot of things already that I don't understand why minecraft doesn't.

I must be retarded, none of the usual tricks seem to allow for the game to play windowed. -w, -sw, Alt+Enter, nothing!

    February 24, 2017
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group today announced that LEGO Worlds, a galaxy of imaginative worlds made entirely of digital LEGO bricks where players can explore, discover and create together, will commercially launch in the UK on 24th February 2017 for PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and STEAM™.

Developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO Worlds has been in STEAM™ Early Access since last year allowing players to provide feedback for continual improvements leading up to its official launch.

"In LEGO Worlds, players will go on an exciting journey to become a Master Builder, in an open-world made completely of LEGO-built environments,” said Jonathan Smith, Head of Production, TT Games. “Whether customising characters, exploring in vehicles, building structures, or discovering an expansive range of items, characters and creatures throughout the worlds, there’s the freedom to create anything imaginable.”

“LEGO Worlds expands our LEGO videogame franchise with a new experience that embodies all the fun of physical LEGO brick building,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “TT Games has created an expansive, digital universe that combines unlimited creativity with the LEGO humour that fans love.”

“LEGO Worlds brings the very essence of LEGO play – building – to the digital world, more than ever before,” said Niels Jørgensen, Vice President, Digital Games for The LEGO Group. “We are excited to bring our physical and digital play models closer together and know it will resonate with our core audience – and engage new ones. We believe LEGO Worlds has the potential to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow through its experience of open-ended creative play.”

In LEGO Worlds, players uncover hidden treasures in environments that range from fun to the fantastical, where worlds come to life with a dizzying variety of vehicles and creatures – from cowboys riding giraffes to vampires scaring Yetis, to steamrollers, racing cars and colossal digging machines. Gamers can embark on a quest to become a Master Builder by helping other LEGO characters along the way – find a sword for a king, protect a farmer from a zombie invasion, or build a home for a caveman. Environments and creations are brought to life in any way fans can imagine, either by building brick by brick, placing down enormous prebuilt LEGO structures, or by using wondrous tools that let you paint and shape the landscape. LEGO Worlds’ online multiplayer functionality allows players to explore each other’s worlds together, create together, and engage in cooperative and competitive play experiences that players can build themselves.

A separate LEGO Agents DLC pack, featuring new characters, vehicles, weapons and more from the Agents range of play materials, will be available first on PlayStation 4 and exclusive for 90 days.

Did they ever update this to have more than an abysmally limited number of brick types? I stopped playing after like two weeks because I couldn't make anything really detailed.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Sandbox Mode added, UI reworked, Nexo Knights and LEGO City Emergency themes coming

I've played the fuck out of this game and I find it extremely fun. It's worth the $30 price tag.
