There's Dwolla, but like anything not-paypal, where you can use it is spotty.
The main thing it has going for it is it was founded on being shit tired of CC merchant/transaction fees, and originally had a flat 25 cent cost for a transaction. They just killed that last week, no more transaction fees at all.

Just called Paypal to do the manual opt-out, and in order to opt-out of the robocalls, you have to additionally optout/in to one of the following:

-Opt-Out of any and all account related notifications to your email/phone. So basically any auto emails you're currently receiving, you wont get any more. You'll have to log in to see what notifications are there.
-Opt-In to Email marketing and promotions from the same company(s) who would be doing the robocalling, or passing that info off to others. So instead of calls, it will be email. I made sure to ask if this prevented the phone numbering being put out there, and it does.

Once selected, they'll send an email to verify / approve the changes. You can call back at anytime to change the setting. No plans to make available in account settings, so you'll have to call in to do it.

This rage is hilarious because PayPal’s terms of service ALREADY include a clause giving the company permission to make prerecorded marketing robocalls to the number you provide them, and to send texts to that number if it’s for a mobile phone.

The change only expands it slightly. Not to say that isn't annoying, but just because it was in the media retards are crying to opt out as if it hasn't been there the entire time? Classic.

I had to call them up to close my account because their website kept telling me that there were technical problems (only when I clicked the close account link). They were really desperate to keep people.

Looking at my PayPal account, the only thing I ever used it for was to contribute to BG. Good riddance anyway!

actually, I think they fucked themselves by not predicting the outrage well enough because now there's a lot of buzz surrounding the written consent and I'd bet my life they would have gotten less opt-outs had they started with this in the first place
