The real Dark Souls
The real Dark Souls
Hence why master race can go fuck themselves when it comes to these games.
Never run into shit like this. Master race still master.
While I've personally never experienced it, it's definitely been a thing for as long as the series has been around.
I'll take vastly superior performance and graphics over the incredibly small chance of running into this, especially since the issue can be circumvented by having backup saves if by chance you run into it.
I once summoned a guy that was clearly cheating. Just stood in front of boreal dancer beating the shit out of her taking no damage. Was worried it would affect my game
Upon further play I've decided that PvP in 3 is fucking garbage. Without getting too specific, no poise and too many i frames on rolls shit is just annoying. Can pretend that using big weapons makes you badass, but the faster weapons (Dark Sword, Estoc, etc) will win clean every time due to the complete lack of poise.
Honestly there's alot of shit they've done wrong in this game. While the base initial playthru is awesome, NG+ is worthless since it just increases numbers and throws some +1 rings in at random locations. Doesn't bring anything new to the table
I've had a lot of fun with the pvp as a casual, so meh!
I dig the fight clubs.
Dark Souls PVP has never been good (or fair, really) but at least it used to be fun with all the weird shit and stupid builds you could do. Dark Souls 3 everyone is a variation on GS/Heavy Weapon or Estoc/Straight Sword. I haven't seen a hybrid/magic build EVER (aside from my dumb ass) and 90% of invasions are gank squads which I don't mind but it's super annoying to get stunlocked to death.
On the topic of cheaters I've seen a couple of speed hacks and some teleporting shit but those instances were funny as hell since I still managed to kill the host before getting raped. It's always a mad phantom too.
After NG+ I'm pretty sure I'll be done with the game unless I need to save scrub for another ending (or just blaze through for it, game isn't that long).
Personally i love the game, even tho it is nothing but gank squads in pvp. After this 3rd run, i can pretty much say that i love and will always love ds1. On the topic of cheaters, i ran into my first one that killed an enemy in boreal valley, and i saw him doing 100+k damage with one swing. I was like "nope!" *Black crystal*
I definitely enjoy it, but I feel like I have no further desire to play until DLC comes out, whereas the previous games definitely could keep me hooked for awhile.
I totally understand what you guys mean. I pretty much felt the same way w/ bloodborne even if i went into NG+4 in that game. Bloodborne changed NOTHING at all in NG+ and up.
I am very sad that Magic took such a backseat this game, where in DS1 or even 2, I remember using it alot on bosses and enemies. DS3 suffers from what most games that had a great 1 and have managed to continue on over the years. They water stuff down for new people.
iirc magic got supremely nerfed in DS2 during its later stages. BTW, After seeing the full 3 hours of TIHYDP of DSP playing DS3, it makes me happy to see how horrible this guy still is at playing the game. Hell this guy got the 1.0 version on XB1 through the exploit, and still sucked at it with the nerfed difficulty. I think the dude died to Vordt like 15 times.
Magic was pretty OP in the earlier stages of 2, but even at its weakest state it's still vastly better then what's available in 3. Other then bare minimum pyromancy I haven't really bothered with any magic after fucking around with it for awhile the first 10 or so hours.
Unless you desperately want to play a specific way it's just gimping yourself to focus on magic, same with using anything other then short sword or rapier class weapons. YES you can play in other ways/use other weapons, but it should come with the understanding that the game at current has a major balance problem.
So its a good thing I went pure physical build huh?
I went a slight mix of both. I got Faith and Int at 20 but haven't needed them to be higher. I primarly just use Spook as its great for Fall Dmg and sneaking up on Red Eyed Knights.
Other than that, I sometimes use Magic Sword, Heavy Greater Soul Arrow, or some random shit. Like I said, backseat.
The game is vastly easier (both PvE and PvP) with a physical focus, and easier again with the lighter weapons like Dark Blade, Butcher Knife, Estoc, etc.
There's obviously entertainment to be had in playing with different styles and weapons, but you will most definitely be making things harder for yourself.
I'm still not too far in but that dark axe has been treating me fairly well Im just to the poison swamp.
One handed axes are pretty good, though like with short swords and the Dark Sword, Butcher Knife basically blows the entire rest of the weapon class away.
I agree with the PVP being completely unbalanced, there's really no reason to duel at this point in the game because the usual outcome is "The Guy with the fast weapon wins every time" which I think mostly has to do with Poise not working at all right now, heavy armor classes honestly would normally shit all over the Estoc builds, but they get stun locked just like everyone else.
Oh well, guess i'll just enjoy shooting people off edges or last hitting people after their duels![]()
