I had the best Darkmoon invasion range at 100, until then it was a shit show. 90% of the time you end up in Grand Archives, Archdragon Peak or Lothric Castle.

Also, I know reds can use Seed of a Tree Giant but can Blues? That would be fucking hilarious because a lot of the time they would camp the boss fog in Grand Archives behind those asshole knights.

Ffs if I drop my sunny D sign at Vordt, don't summon me and run up expecting me to help you cheese The Dancer. I haven't seen that fight at all, and I have no interest in spoiling it for myself. I just want to help the babbies kill a puppy.

Do this when you get to yhorm. You get a ton more souls, and the fight is faster.

People pulling summons from Vordt to try and kill Dancer has been a thing since the game launched. I don't know what people expect from random SL25~ people. I know Dancer is killable at low levels but that's definitely not a thing most players are capable of doing that early in the game.

Dancer is very killable at low level especially since it's possible to glitch out her hate and just kite her while other people hack away.

I've got invited to people doing that and just leave the fight once I realize is going on. git gud etc

Not to turn this into an epeen argument, but Dancer while new to the game is a death sentence. You either kill it by glitching it or you die to it forever and a day learning all of her attack ranges and combos, because at that low of a level getting hit is practically an instagib and you've got maybe 5 flasks. There's no "gud" here outside of memeing on someone, in which case I might've just been whooshed.

Edit: Yep, I whooshed myself. Fuck. People using glitches do need to get better, sorry about that.

inviting someone at a different boss fog to sequence-break the game is lame... if someone wants to help with that they'd drop their sign @ the dancers door.

This pretty much verifies what I've been thinking whenever somebody complains about the balance in this game. Yeah certain things are mathematically better than others, but that's always been the case with Dark Souls. However, you can make anything work if you're skilled enough. I've never been the greatest pvper, but I've gotten really good with the Profaned Greatsword (which from what I understand is fairly garbage compared to other weapons in that category), to the point where I won a 1v4 the other day as an invader.

So in short: fucking git gud.

Math doesn't even need to enter the equation. Anyone with a brain can see how vastly superior certain weapon types are, and paired with the lack of poise it lends itself to an overwhelmingly boring meta for PvP. Obviously you'll run into some varied builds out there, but from my experiences like 70-80% of pvp situations you're just gonna run into nearly identical setups and playstyles.

Putting poise back into the game and throwing a damage nerf onto Dark Sword (as much as it pains me to say that from a PvE point of view) would fix alot of the issues, though a more sweeping change might be necessary to bring magic users up to the level of melee for soul levels under 120.

How is that different from either of the 2 previous games? The meta for Dark Souls was the GiantDad build, and for 2 it was mages (iirc anyways, I got bored of 2 pretty quickly compared to 1 and 3 so far). You can play how you want if you're good enough. I mean fuck man when I did my Dragon Bone Fist playthrough on 1 I was still able to gank bitches.

I'm not saying it's ideal but it's definitely not as shitty as people make it out to be, especially when compared with the past 2 games.

EDIT: Also the dude in that video is SL86 or something

I do wholeheartedly agree they need to adjust Poise, as for the rest of the shit people complain about, it's whatever.

A lot of the deaths in that video were from people who obviously didn't understand how Chaos pyromancies worked. They would just stand in the goop or walk/attack through it giving no fucks and get gibbed for it.
    For everything else:

The way to beat mages in every Dark Souls is the same. Be brave and try rolling.

And 2 had so many viable builds that if you think mage builds were the problem (they weren't before the nerf, and certainly not after) you didn't play enough. Shit like mundane twinblades, buffed repeater, some power stance combos etc. 2 had the most variety for PVP even though most considered magic to be OP (when again, it was really only good for punishing dumb asses and chuggers).

The only OP thing I can think about for magic is the Sacred Flame glitch.

What annoys me with many of those youtube vids showing "unconventional" builds and winning is, while the person recording the video might be somewhat skilled, their opponents more than often are not.

You literally could make anything look like it works if you're fighting against uhh... not very skilled people, to put it mildly.

    Late game boss question/spoiler

    Spoiler: show
So why are people saying Nameless King is the hardest? Granted I have not seen phase 2 2nd half yet but does he ramp up exponentially? Because the dragon phase and first half of him are kind of a pushover. So far.

Edit: saw all of the fight as a phantom, I'm even more confused. I mean yeah he hurts a lot but isn't really as relentless as Champion or Pontiff at all. Probably the worst part is just depth perception and mainly only in phase 1. I've died a dozen times or so already to 2nd phase but it feels fair. I'm just sucking at getting greedy.

I think the main problem many people have is the long wind up on his attacks, it can throw you off and make you roll sooner than you should.

That said, I've noticed that this time around one people's hardest boss might be others easiest, for me Champion was one of the easiest, I found pontiff/dancer to be harder than him, to name a few.

Pontiff is actually kind of a joke as well if you parry his initial dash swipe. You take virtually half his HP with the following riposte and he is incredibly susceptible to bleed so even something like a Carthus Rouge will make him go a lot faster.

Dancer you can dodge her most annoying attacks just by standing right at her butt and dodging the final 360 move. Most of her large swipes actually only hit 180 degrees in front of her so if you just watch for when she puts her swords in the ground you can get a lot of free attacks in. Also Human Pine Resin or Dark Damage in general she is weak to.

Been noticing a lot of bosses are incredibly weak to specific elements so even using pine resins that you can buy will make fights go a lot faster.

Probably the most brilliantly frustrating thing in all Soulsborne games is knowing for an absolute fact that every single boss attack string is designed such that if it knocks you down and you mash roll, the followup will always always fucking hit you.

I get a half second to realize "I fucked up" before I get that hit and maybe die. Thanks From. Love you too.
